Feeling left out . . .

Feeling left out . . .

FH has 2 sisters and a sister-in-law. He has a large family and the aunts, mom, sisters are very close. I feel like FH and I have become the 'forgotten couple'. Ex. 1 FH brother was in the hospital for stiches and I found out yesterday and asked FH SIL about it and she was SHOCKED & AMAZED at how we could not have known (no one bothered to call us and tell us).

Ex. 2 - The ladies in the family are taking FH sister out for her 30th birthday for lunch. I was never told about it and again found out about it yesterday. Oh, and it will be on a Friday afternoon, ummm some people do work.

I'm not trying to be a b$#@&, I'm just disappointed. I'm really making an effort here. I include myself in things cause I really do look at his family as if they are mine. Maybe I'm being to sensitive?

I would def not take it personally i have an anti social family and they dont even realize it .... so annoying... those types of people need pressure and need to be reminded that they are not including people. feel better

I used to feel this way sometimes with FH's sisters. I think part of it is that they have been doing things together for so long that they forget about the 'new' person. I talked to FH about it and finally things changed. Maybe they just updated there group emails.

I would tell them how you feel. Good Luck

I have the SAMEEEEEE problem. I get upset about it all the time, but I've I don't say anything. What upsets me more is that they DID inc. FBIL's ex in everything when they were dating, but FH and I are getting MARRIED and they still neglect me.

When ever something happens in the family either FH and I aren't told about it OR when we are told (usually last) they ask like we should have known. We live 3 blks away and have 3 phones btw the 2 of us.

If someone has a good way of dealing with this - I'd love to know.

that's so hard and stinks when you're trying to do the right thing....just keep doing the right thing and be the bigger person...eventually they'll come around

hmmm...maybe you can organize a small gals-night-out or similar get-together (like a spa day, etc) for bonding purposes

Sorry to hear this, I would feel left out too. Could your FH speak to his family and explain how you feel?

I can understand feeling left out when they don't tell you as a couple, but if they don't tell you individually I don't know how upset I would be. If they don't tell your FH then that is something they need to work out, but not telling you is a different story. You may try as much as you can to be involved with the family, but that doesn't mean they have to let you in. It would be nice, dont get me wrong, but some people are just like that. Have they ever shown a dislike towards you?

I know how you feel. 3 weeks ago I took time off work and school to go to FL for FSIL's wedding. All the women in the family and bridal party decided on Friday to go get manicures and pedicures and never invited me. Each morning they went to breakfast and FH, FBIL, and I were not invited. Then to top it all off the whole family (other than FBIL) left the wedding early to go to her aunts house for daiquiris leaving FBIL, FH and I to clean up, pack up and disassemble the tables and chairs from the reception.

Augustbride 08 . . . I don't feel so bad now. That was really rude what the family did to you.

Future-farrell, my FH family never showed dislike towards me but like you said, they don't HAVE to let me in. I'll just take it for what it is and deal with things as they happen.
