okay so FH and i were sitting with my mother, having coffee and talking earlier tonight.. and i bring up our idea about having 'adult reception' on the reception cards... and a fight erupts. my mom says do not do it because she has a sister that has 2 kids (ages 9 and 10) and it will cause a fight if i dont invite them.. and if they cant bring their kids theres a good chance my mom's parents wont come because if her sister doesnt then they have no ride. she says to leave off 'adult reception' because most people wont bring their kids anyway.. and most likey she doesnt think her sister will make it to the wedding anyway, but i should send an invite just to be the bigger person. i say why the heck should i take a chance of leaving off 'adult reception' and having everyone with kids bring them with them??? am i being really wrong here? i dont want kids at the reception.. neither does FH.. except for my daughter and the other 2 girls in the bridal party. when my mom was arguing with me about it i was getting so angry i felt like my head was going to explode... i felt like that chick on bridezillas when theyre playing the song and she is breathing fire or whatever. i know its my wedding and i should do what i want- but i dont wanna make anyone mad either... blah. sorry, just needed to vent i guess. thanks for reading if you did.

Re: feeling like a bridezilla.
what if you just don't include the reception card with her invitation? Would your mom go for that?

well it's also your first cousins so you shouldn't have to explain yourself. Like we decided no kids but we made an acception for FH's 2 nephews

Its your wedding and if you dont want kids there, thats the way it should be. Does she realize a lot of weddings nowadays dont include children? Youre not being a bridezilla, she's being a momzilla and making a big deal over something that probably wont even cause a problem.

Re: feeling like a bridezilla.
hey there.. im having a simliar problem. although i dont mind kids i only want families kids.. i have a ot of oot family and if i say no kids then they wont' come and i want them there.. in my family we traditionally have kid friendly receptions..
BUT
i dont want my coworkers draggin their kids along.. heck i dont want them bringing their spouses.. but i know i gotta allow that for some of them.. anyhoo.. i'm puitting adult reception in everyons card.. but family with kids will get a card that says famiyl friend reception.
OR a second thought would be to write
__________seats have been reserved for you.. and for my family, i ill put the amount of them with the kids.. for coworkers just them and a date or them solo.
