feeling overwhelmed

feeling overwhelmed

I haven't done much with planning lately , we just had our Eparty a few weeks ago which we were doing a lot of work for. I have some major things done

But I was thinking about it today, and I have a lot of time, but I am feeling really overwhelmed with it all. Mostly because I am living upstate right now for grad school and the wedding is down 30 minutes away from where I grew up on LI.

I don't know how I am going to juggle everything, my bridal party is scattered all over the state so things like picking out BM dresses, coordinating my shower/bachelorette party, going down for my final plans with RH and vendors, and even the day of trying to coordinate everyone getting their hair done and getting ready, like should I get ready at the hotel or at my house, 30 minutes away from the hotel and church??

I just don't know how I'm going to do everything. I am also anxious to get our epics done, I don't think we have a free weekend to do it this fall so it will most likely have to be done in the spring (I was hoping to do it in the fall).

Blah. I just don't know how I'm going to figure everything out. This wedding planning is too big of a project for me, and my family and bridal party, like I said, are hours away. FH is a help when he can but he's pretty clueless.

I might feel better if I had my other major vendors booked, flowers, limo, and hair/makeup- but between work and school I don't know how I am going to get down to LI before christmas- is that cutting it too close to our date??

it was hard enough getting the things we have booked, it's gonna be really hard to try to get my hair and makeup booked in one weekend- what if I do not like my trial and want to look elsewhere?? UGH

I am so jealous of everyone who lives on LI and can plan from there!! Be thankful!

you have plenty of time to figure things out so dont feel overwhelmed.....i know how you feel, my parents, sister and grandparents are in florida and it hassnt been easy because my parents can be 'difficult' when it comes to taking trips to NY regarding the wedding/shower.....things will work out

That is not such a bad distance. My DIL planned her wedding to my son while he was in Iraq and she was living in New Mexico and the wedding was here in NY. (At least you will be able to come down on weekends sometime). She had bridesmaids all over the United States from Florida, Texas, Boston, Albuquerque and New York. What she did was take a few of the girls that lived nearby and picked out dresses then sent all the BM a link to the dress and told them to get themselves measured and call the store with a deposit. When the dresses came in each girl again called the store or sent in a check and the dress was shipped to each and every one of them. They did have to have the dress altered on their own, but as you can see it can be done. She even got her gown at Kleinfeld's and had all her fittings the week before the wedding, but it got done and she looked amazing.
Good luck.

P.S. She got ready at the hotel and her make up and hair done there too. She spent the week before at my house doing all the last minute things.

Aww, I know how you feel. I'm sure things will work out though. If you take a weekend to go to LI, just try to schedule a lot of stuff and get it out of the way. You still have a year to go so no worries!

I'm overwhelmed too. FH lives in AK and Im not really one to bother ppl for help so I've been doing it all on my own. I've been studying for my grad school entrance exam for the past few mths and have gotten almost nothing done. I don't even have the church yet. But once I'm done with my exam, I'm going to just take a weekend and try to do a lot of it. In the end I'm sure everything will be fine.

Positive thinking is the way to go

As cliche as it sounds, it will all work out. Just make a list and see what you have to do and map it out from there. Tackle everything little by little and it will get done!

Try not to become overwhelmed. We forget that this is such an awesome time in our life. You have to enjoy being engaged because soon you'll be married which of course is great as well. But being engaged is so much fun so you can't let anything stress you out!! Everything will work out!!

I think you are in great shape. Other than the limos, I haven't done not a thing more than you and I am 5 months before you. I am very busy and I just have to work on my own schedule so I try not to compare myself to people on here. You have more than a year left and a good chunk done. The girls on here and much more ahead than any avereage ny bride. Don't sress. I am not really able to do anything this month (working lots of weekend, etc) and I probably won't me ordering BM dresses or flowers until about 6 months in advance. it will be fine. don't worry.

thanks for the reassurance! I was just thinking about how I was supposed to coordinate everything especially with the wedding party and wondering how the heck I was going to do it lol

I can be hard. I have 2 BMs that live in Europe now. I plan to just have thenmsend in their measurements and CC #s and the dresses will be ordered for them. [ I will pick the dresses solo it seems b/c I can't seem to get any available BMS any time soon-lol] They will come in a week before the wedding and just tailor then. I think it should be ok. They probably will miss my bachlorette party and shower but i am ok with that. You have ti try and not stress. Do what you can when you have time and accept that everyone does not have to be there for everything. I think low expectations are key!
