I have a free trial coming up w/ Sandra Baldini. I contacted Oksana but she's too $ and I don't know I can guarantee that 3 others get their makeup done too. All About Face seems good, so does glam me up.. there are just so many. Plus, I don't even know where to start for hair?! And, since my wedding is over a year away, I don't know when I should really book.. I think I'll wait until this summer? I have no idea about what a typical hair price should be.. and since my wedding starts at 5:00, maybe I can just go to my salon in Syosset when they first open and get my hair done??? This is actually the thing thats overwhelming me the most right now!

I feel your pain-I'm having the same issue!! We're having our wedding on the north fork waaaay east and i live in the city. I can't go to my salon, and have no idea how to even start looking for someone who's willing to come to my hotel. Plus I need hair and makeup for 13 women and 2 flowergirls!!! Sorry you're having the same troubles. If I find any answers for myself I'll pass them along

Don't you fret! I am on the case and it will all be taken care of! And really only 1 flower the girl -- the other one seems not not want to grow any hair! Kim will just stick one of her crazy bows in it!

You have time but it does not hurt to start looking and planning for it. Having someone come to you will be more money then going to a salon or your salon. Take your timeline and work backwards and then you will see what time you need to start getting ready.
If your salon is Syosset do you live near there? Or is where you will be getting dressed near there?

I just want to say- dont wait till the last minute to try to book someone. I am 6 months away and I am having a hard time finding someone in my price range who is not booked that day.

If it is not far and you like your salon then use them.
I wanted to use the girls I always use and go to the Salon but they are in Nassau and I was getting dressed at my parents out east. So logistically it did not work out.
I used M*I*A and loved her. But she is expensive.
You do not have to have someone come to you. And with your timing you probably don't have to go first thing in the morning either.
We started at 6:30 am for 11 girls hair and make-up (including flower girl and myself). The photographer came at noon and we left at 1:00 pm. There was three people at my house. One assistant could only do hair. And M*I*A mostly worked with just me.

Thanks everyone. I contacted About Face makeup and beautiful brides by Lauren.. may do a trial with both of them. Its $$ for trials though!!!

Definitely do not wait to book hair and makeup...I made this mistake and waited to book hair/mu last and I also had a very hard time finding someone I liked that was also available on my day.

I don't know if this helps at all, but Mya from Cosmetic Artistry does BOTH hair and makeup and she will even come to your house for just the bride. I am using her!

For hair I am using Angela from Angela's hair design ( she is not a vendor here ) her prices are great $25 for a trial and $100 the day of and has no min and will travel to you......pic's of my trial are in album her web site is; www.siteskins.net/angelashairdesign

You will love sandra. The only thing is, you have to know what you want. I had the same problem and had SEVEN trials. It wasnt really the artists, it was ME not communicating right. I thought I knew what I wanted but I was wrong, cause i hated the way it looked. If you go to Sandra with your make up already done, she can get a sense of what you want and work from there. Thats what she did for me. and the make up stayed ALL DAY and NIGHT. Simply put, she rocks.

Thanks.. I kind of do know what I want already. I may go to my local salon for hair and makeup, as prices just are CRAZY! What are Sandra's prices? I don't remember.

I am in the same boat...How much should the brides make up be? And I feel like i am going crazy but is $150 a lot for makeup for the bride at my house? and how many places should i look at before i decide? thanks ladies for all your help.
