I just got back from a bridal expo where my reception is going to be and there are SO MANY choices for everything. I think I'm going to book a photographer/videographer and a DJ next but I don't even know where to start! I guess I have to look over prices and what I REALLY want, what I would like, and what I could do without. It's just so hard. How did you girls decide on what was best for you? This is all so new to me!!!

I booked Jay Lim on the spot! I knew I wanted him as my photog after seeing his work. I have some quotes from other photogs. FM if ur interested.

for my photographer- we literally just searched high and low online and met with 6-8 before deciding...and music we are still looking we ensured looking early would give us the time we need to make the best decisions for us!!! when you know; you know!!
i also didn't solely go based off recommendations, i did my own research and went with my gut; not just a 'popular' vendor! :)

Dont give yourself too many choices for each category we made a top 3/4 people per category. Narrow down by syle, price and recommendations. Then go with personality! We used that as our final decision maker. You are going to be spending such a special day in your life with these people and your personalties have to clique! We felt that way immediately about Florio from Lighthouse ( We also met with JoVon, Matthew Adam and jayLim) for video, we booked AJ Ingolia on the spot, AMAZING personality ( We also met with GT Modern) DJ we absolutely LOVE Vinny from Satisfaction Guaranteed in Mineola Good lucK!

Lots and lots of research! This website is very helpful too.
We both just kind of had this vision of what we wanted. We had our band picked before we even got engaged, so that was the easiest choice of all. For photo/video, we researched different photographers to figure out whose work we liked the most and then made appointments based off of that. Once you meet one-on-one with vendors, I think the choice becomes a lot easier than showcases where everybody is meeting with them and they're just trying to get through their spiel with everyone.

we did a lot of research and all of these ladies were really helpful. we started meeting with photographers and got a feeling about what was in our price range and what felt good for us. Once we had those ideas and got a feeling for how the meetings themselves are it was WAY less overwhelming. seems like yesterday i posted this identical thing! :)
Lots of research and reading reviews from past brides (also check out reviews from The Knot and Wedding Wire), check out each vendor's website and facebook page too. If you like what you see online, you will most likely love their work in person. Good luck :)

We narrowed it down to only a few options per vendor before making appointments to meet them so we didn't get too overwhelmed with so many choices. I am constantly on wedding wire reading reviews!

Dont get overwhelmed..I def agree to do as much research as you can. This website def helps you with ideas of what other brides use & recommend, but ultimately you will know once you meet with the vendors & see if you click with them. Going on their websites help too, and make sure you get as much for your money as possible..Good luck!!
