Feeling overwhelmed....(sorry so long)

Feeling overwhelmed....(sorry so long)

ok ladies, I’m started to get panicked…someone please help me feel better about this….
So FH and I got engaged on December 17th and booked our RH exactly the month after. We fell in love with it and decided to look no further! Next came photography which was another no brainer. We knew immediately! Video came shortly after and now we are at a screeching halt with wedding plans.

You can all see my date, 12/1/12 and I know we have time but….we were off to such a great start and now due to various reasons, time is just passing and I’m feeling too behind for my liking. FH is a contractor and works very late on weekdays and even on some (starting to feel like most) weekends. While I’m so thankful his business is doing well especially in this economy, I’m getting irritated that we just can’t seem to find the time to make more decisions b/c in HIS mind, we have SO MUCH TIME!

Yes, I can make and go to appointments w/out him but he WANTS to be involved and I like that fact. I ended up booking video by myself and it was just odd without him b/c he wanted to be at the meeting but I insisted on keeping the meeting b/c I have this huge paranoia about not getting the vendors I want . We still need limos, flowers, DJ, and hotel block and not to mention all of the little details (cake topper, table linens/chair sash, donation idea, etc.) I have done all the research and discussed all with FH but now we just need to DO IT. It’s not like we have absolutely no idea where to being with these.
My patience is running thin….:(

I was having a similar overwhelming feeling. I only have RH, DJ and Photo and my wedding is def 6 months before you-- so you def have plenty of time. I decided to make a list and try to prioritize what I need to book first and try to get one done a month. That way you can still focus on something and get the research done and you can fit it in with FH's schedule without having appts everyday. I had to force FH to take off a day and we made all the appts in one day so we could get it all the 1st mtgs in.

Don't worry it will get done! take it one step at a time

don't worry you are not alone! but first, don't panic...you don't need to do that at this point.

maybe you can let him know you're worried that vendors you may be interested in will book up soon and you'd feel a lot more comfortable if you made those appointments soon, then have him tell you a day he's available and make the appts. I'm sure he'll want to do everything in his power to keep you from being upset/worried (much more effective than coming from a place of impatience with him, KWIM?)

Everything will get done!

Same thing with us. Next month he'll finally have Saturdays off and we are going to do the registry. Give time, time. It's going to be okay. Just figure out which vendor is the next really important one, my thought would be DJ so that if you love one they don't book up. Then, make a commitment for one day or evening (a lot of DJ's have evenings) and go. Just doing one thing with him may make you feel a whole lot better. And, take it easy on yourself! You are putting in the effort and doing the research, the outcome will come... it just may not be as quick as you like. FH loves to be involved with planning too so I completely understand.

Just breathe! And enjoy each others company tomorrow. Maybe talk about tackling one of the things you mentioned. Those no point discussing all of these things that are making you nuts right now, then you just may make him nuts and overwhelmed too! There's no point in spending your nice day off that way.

Sending you hugs!!!

I feel you. When I think about all the things FH and I need to get done I want to scream. I feel like we have accomplished so much, yet so little.

Like others have said, we are all in the same boat at one point or another. We all joined this site for support!!

Take a step back and take a deep breath. You have plenty of time. I know a lot of people who have planned the wedding in less than 1 year and you are not at your one year mark.

Take the time to research the companies on the computer and come on here and look at reviews.

Trust me it will all start to come together!

thanks ladies!! FH and I had a nice afternoon and only discussed ONE detail...the one I think is of next most importance, the DJ! Called and left a message to arrange an appointment for this week for us. I feel better, thanks for listening!

Dont know what it is...just woke up feeling like I was way behind but I have to keep remembering, that i'm not even at the year mark yet.

My FH was the same.... until I told him my florist called and someone was interested in my date (they do one event a day....). Suddenly... we booked everything. Something will happen and he'll realize..

My FH wants to be involved in everything, but talks to people and says we have so much time.. and we do get into arguements. Just make him feel special and let him know his opinion matters... he should come around a little. Maybe pout and allow a few tears when he acts like a jerk.

Don't worry, you have PLENTY of time! If it makes you feel any better I still have limos, florist, my dress, BM dresses, tuxes, invitations, favors, food tasting, cake tasting and all of the other little details still!

I know your stress. You still have plenty of time and will eventually get through this together.
