Hi ladies, I just joined the site to help relieve some of my wedding stress. Instead of being excited, I'm feeling rather depressed. Everything is bothering me, particularly about my fiance's dad. He is very loving and caring, but suffocates my FH. He wishes FH were 10 years old again, so he can give me him kisses and control his life. FH lived at home until he was 27 loving every minute of it. His mom cooked and cleaned, and his dad gave him money, and made his decisions for him. When FH gave me my ring, his parents were right there too. I know that I shouldn't focus on others and only myself, but for some reason today, I am feeling really agitated. FH can not make a decision without his parents. And, in all honestly, the advice I give is 100x more sensible. His parents think they can give money and everything's all good. I'm stressed about other stuff too, like my weight, I can keep it down. It's always on the rise. Argh... Too much annoyance. Yes, I am PMSing, but still this stuff is so agititating.
Thanks for listening. Any advice is welcome. I have more I can tell too.

Re: Feeling Stressed
Sorry to hear that, sounds like your FH is a real family's boy. There's a good and bad to it of course, good in that if you're marrying him you know he's gonna be loyal and always there for you. Bad in that he will defer to his parents for advice and you will really be marrying his family when you marry him.
If his family is supportive and shares the same values as you, it's a real blessing, otherwise it can be abit stressful... FM me if you wanna talk further...

Re: Feeling Stressed
I think every girl on this site has felt stressed or depressed at one point or another about the wedding. Things have a way of working out!
BTW is that really your wedding date? If so we're date twins!

Re: Feeling Stressed
dont worry! your stresses will come & go!! If your FH is a family/mommy&daddy's boy, it will definetly take time to train him & break him in for real life! (and i dont mean that in a bad way, its just simply truth :) ) my FSIL's man was the same way, but after a little realization that his BRIDE comes first, and he was to join with his wife, and that she(my friend) also REFUSED to be 'his mommy', things changed, and now she has a wonderful sacrificing & loving husband. Sometimes you simply need to just sit down & TALK to your FH. Men can't always read between the lines, and he may not even know all this is bothering you. If may fuse a teeny argument, but in the long run, i think he will realize what needs to start happening. And it doesnt mean you're being a spoiled brat, it just means your going to be Husband & wife, and that real life & growing up needs to start!! Remember that the habits that start now, are habits that will stay! Just talk to him & tell him what your feeling if it's bothering you so much...supressing all this will only leave you more stressed, annoyed & build resentment that doesnt need to be there!!!
**all the best!** i hope everything works out!

Re: Feeling Stressed
My FH also lived with his parent's for a LONG while, although he never got money from them. I know the feeling all to well, though, that he goes to them to talk and get advice from, he listens to me, but still goes to them for a 2nd opinion.
The only thing that I have found to work. Point it out every time it happens and ask him why he won't take your objective advice and will still go to his parent's. Communicate with him - maybe he doesn't realize what he's doing b.c he's been doing it for so long.
