Feeling the pressure

Feeling the pressure

FH is feeling the wedding pressure already! We haven't even looked at photo, video, limos, florists, and we are guestimating we'll probably be 10g over budget when this is all over! Whats worse is that we are paying for this whole thing ourselves! I told him we should sell our date, and fly to an island and just get married!!!

I feel your pain, FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves also. We try to think about all the time we have to save up for it and not add everything up!

It's insane how much weddings cost, and everyone is bound to feel pressure, especially when it comes to the money part. Good luck with everything!

Have you looked into Wedding World and Ariana Studios? Both are one stop shopping and are very affordable.

Its completely insane how much things cost nowadays!!! I think hes feeling it more cause he really wants to buy a house, and his friend just got engaged and is doing both. We just don't have the luxury of doing that right now. It's either house or wedding. He doesn't understand that maybe his friend is getting help, and we're not.

Ariana is in Floral Park and Wedding World is in Commack. I've heard nothing but bad things about The Wedding Center which is also in Commack just to stear you clear away from there!

FH and i are having the same exact thoughts and house or wedding dillema. we also dont anticipate any help from our families. we are just taking it as it comes, and saving where we can and *hoping* we can pull it off. worse comes to worse i will skimp on paying my student loans. he will be getting a raise soon and i might have the opportunity to work extra shifts here and there so i think we will make it. if there is hope for us, there sure is hope for you!!!

We are having the same issues. FH worries and I am trying to stay optimistic. It's tough though. Seeing how much $$ we have to hand out, it seems like we will never be able to do it.

We are just trying to keep saving money and stick to our budget.

FH Does get frustrated though. I feel your pain.

take it all slowly, cut back where you can and things will work out ... remember that these are BEST times in your life!!

deep breaths! thats what i tell myself when putting the pen to paper - shop around and dont settle, remember it is all a business and you are employing the vendors, they will cut prices and add in things if you stand your ground and make them know from the beginning that your know your stuff! He a hard a$$ - they will bend!

good luck

Re: Feeling the pressure

awww Colleen dont worry you two will work it all out...Trust me i know it can be overwhelming...I seriously have moments where i feel like i am going to loose my mind and sometimes i panick thinking OMG how much money we need. I think it was even harder around x-mas time and while planning our e-party bc expenses were going there, and i know you had your e-party not that long ago so i understand.

Just take time out for you two to sit down and talk about the budget, make some calculations and see what needs to be done. Honestly i barely spend any of my paycheck, most of it goes to wedding things, its a decision i made and im fine with but i do know its not for everyone. Alot of people still want to have a certain lifestyle, go shopping and do all that. I figured i have clothes already lol, so here and there ill buy clothes for work that i need and once in a while ill buy something for myself if i need it not just want it. When we first started planning i said i would put half of my paycheck towards the wedding but now i put most of it and leave a little for myself.

So you two just need to see what will work for you, im not saying to do my example bc everyone is different but something that will work for both of you...see what you two realistically can put aside every paycheck, where you can splurge and where you need to save. Just take each thing one step at a time, if you look at the whole thing it will drive you crazy.

Re: Feeling the pressure

We are over budget, too -- trust me, it happens to everyone

We sat down and literally starting cutting out things that we didn't feel were necessary to the wedding (menus, bathroom baskets, etc...) and worked with it till we were back down to where we needed to be. It's not easy nor fun, but you can do it!!
