Feline Vet Recommendations Needed

Feline Vet Recommendations Needed

Looking for ideas of favorite vets to bring my kitty to .. my vet is okay .. but I'm thinking I'd like a second opinion for this year's annual checkup .. he's NOT had this year's exam yet, but he's due to go to his regular vet soon.

I'd prefer eastern Suffolk / western Nassau .. and would like to hear what makes your favorite vet a favorite.

My kitty is NOT a good patient .. and every year I feel his physical exam suffers because the vets are understandably timid around him, despite my holding kitty. And even though he doesn't like being handled ... he actually takes his shots like a real tropper .. never even flinches.

Anyway .. the more crazy the waiting room is .. and the longer he has to wait .. the more worked up my kitty gets .. and I don't want to get into giving him tranqulizers before going.

Thanks for the input!!

Re: Feline Vet Recommendations Needed

I LOVE my vet...what makes him special? Well, besides the fact that he's Board Certified and has never had a complaint against him, he was able to accurately diagnose my Mr. Blue in 5 minutes while other vets kept saying he was 'fine'. I troop from Brooklyn, that's how awesome he is.

These sites should help should you want to search out vets:

The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, Inc.

New York State Veterinary Medical Society

New York State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners

What about catnip and carrots in Floral Park. I heard good things about them.

If you want to travel into Queens, I can recommend a great vet. SHe is fantastic and very gentle.

Re: Feline Vet Recommendations Needed

Sounds lame but I love this new vet we've been using

We picked him because the costs of shots was much more reasonable than West Hills Animal Hospital

Huntington Animal Hospital.
Dr. Kramer & Dr. Maguire
631-423-7020
It's on Jericho and 110 TINY little place but an old school family run shop. The Mr. Vet's dad owned it back when Huntington was still dirt roads and pass the practice onto his son.
