There are a few of us on here...its so wierd, half the time when I am asked where I went to college, no one has ever heard of Brockport. I met someone else on here, Janwinterbride, she also graduated Brockport in 1993. Turns out we had the same major and could have been in some classes together.
Has anyone gone back since they graduated? I have not but would love to!! I would like to see how they changed around the Union and see the new covered bridge to the Library. I used to be a tour guide on campus, that was actually cool. I learned alot about the history of the school. (sounds so geeky, huh??? lol)
I graduated in 1994 and my major was Criminal Justice.

Re: Fellow SUNY Brockport Alumni.....
One of my close friends (former co-worker) moved up to Batavia and is working on her MFA at Brockport. Her mom teaches there (Sandra Holinbaugh, she might have been Sandra Beltz at the time)
Anything you would like me to ask her?

My sister went to Brockport a LONG time ago! Is the coffee shop Java Junction still in town? She used to go there all the time.

Re: Fellow SUNY Brockport Alumni.....
So glad you started this thread!!!
Whenever I tell someone I went to Brockport no one knows where it is so I just say I went to a school in Rochester.
Anyway I graduated in 1999 and I have been back to visit every year since except last year. I LOVE it up there! In fact, 3 of my best friends and bridesmaids are from there.
As I said I graduated in 1999 with a degree in communications with a concentration in broadcasting. I spent all my time at the radio station - WBSU which is now known as The Point.
You wouldnt believe how different the Union looks! You have to see it for yourself. Its like there is no more glass doors dividing the food area from the lounge area if you know what I mean....The covered bridge - I saw it but I didnt walk through it.
Anyone remember SHAKERS???? That place long gone. It was something else for a while but now I am not sure what it is. C&S, Barbers, & Canalside are still there. Party Zone is gone now too (thats a good thing)!
Now I am all nostalgic! I cant wait til after the wedding when I can start making regular trips up there again!

Shakers??? Party Zone??? Never heard of them.
When I was there, Java Junction was there, don't know if it still is.
Is the movie theater still there?
When I was there, I transfered as a Junior and I lived in Perry. Then moved off campus to live on Main Street, a few doors down from the laundrymat and the book store. I lived upstairs from the bicycle shop (don't know if it is still there) but it was across from the pizza place.

Java Junction is still there so if the bicycle shop. The Strand (the movie theatre) is still there. I loved $1 midnight movies!
Maybe those 2 bars came and went after you were there....Party Zone was down by Pizza Hut and Shakers was down one of the side streets off Main....across from the drive thru ATM.

I went to Brockport Graduated in May 2001. My major was Nursing. I agree that people look at you as if you had 3 head when you tell them where you attended college. They say 'why so far' Boy it must have been cold?' LOL I love it and loved all the SNOW! So happy to see so many alumni here on the boards.

The Party Zone closed the year after I started there. I always went to Jimmy Mac's, Barbara's, and Canal Side.

Re: Fellow SUNY Brockport Alumni.....
I loved Barbers. When I was there, there was a place called the Lincoln, it was off of Main Street, behind Barbers. I know it changed names after I left. There was also a place across from Canalside called Northbounds. That is where all the Rugby players hung out. I like getting the newsletters from Brockport, they tell us what's going on and what is changing.

I dont know what Lincoln is....I am thinking it was what was Shakers when I was there, then it was something else and now its nothing.
I went to Northbound! I loved that place too. We used to go back and forth to Canalside and Northbound all night. Anyway, they closed it down and then someone from BSG bought it and it was open for a while and now its closed again I believe.
I love the newsletters too! Kalidescope!

Another Brockport Alumin! I graduated in 1999 (degree in Nursing). I lived in MacVicar (freshman), Mortimer (soph), Perry (junior) and on 152 Holly Street my senior year. I had such a blast up there-omg, Shakers-didn't it close down because of too many underage drinkers? I mostly went to Canal Side and Jimmy Macs. Oh, and I loved Java Junction coffee!
