I am inviting the coworkers I eat lunch with. This ended up being my entire grade, plus a few others.

I teach as well and it's hard to know what to do. In your case, I would only invite the people that you're close with. (i.e. the 3rd grade teachers). Me, I am on such a tight budget, I didn't want to go crazy with people from work, but I will invite the girls I share a class with (I teach inclusion) and one another girl on my level that I've gotten close with. I am friendly with everyone on my grade level and in the special ed. dept. that i work in, but i am hoping people will understand that I need to keep it a reasonable size (my family is HUGE!). Is it rude NOT to invite the prcincipal??? I love her, but i don't see her coming necessarily.... I've only been in that building for 2 years....

wow, 50 people sounds like a lot! I would only invite ppl you are close with.
I just started in my school in September. The guest list was honestly already set and overflowing by then and I'm inviting people from my last job where I've been for almost 5 years and close with a lot of people and it was already hard narrowing *that* list down. I'm not inviting anyone from school. Do you think that's ok? I'm not super close with anyone..so I think it would be weird to invite anyone..how would I chose?

I AGREE INVITE YOUR COWORKERS WHO YOU CARE ABOUT MORE THAN OTHERS. REMEMBER YOU CAN SEND A LOT OF THEM CHURCH INVITES ONLY. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT.

Re: fellow teachers
my old grade was 6, my friends besides them are like 8, the office (sec, principal, ap) another 5, and double that for guests is around 40, this is just off the top of my head. i know a fwe secs and prin and ap probably wont come but i would still invite them. the only thing i am worried about is hard feelings if im on 2nd again next yr.
to the other girls, i would invite the prin and ap even if they dont come, just because that is something others told me to do, jmo

Re: fellow teachers
deb...i would think of it this way, if you were having a dinner party who would you invite? I would just keep it to who you have the best relationship with and who's company you enjoy the most. You do not have to invite your entire grade, there is no rule to that. I agree to invite P and AP, it's more of a respect thing, they probable won't even come. I would invite who you eat lunch with and who you have a relationship with outside of the school........

I am inviting the close teachers from school and the teachers that I hang out with outside of school. That for me is about 6 women.
