Female Tuxedo

I'm a groomswoman in my best friend's wedding. He really wants me to wear a tuxedo, but a feminine one. Does any one have pictures or ideas on where to go? I tried googling but i cant find anything.

TIA!

they do make them... but you may end up looking like the wait-staff (esp. if you wear the skirt).... unless you really jazz it up. I just googled female tuxedo and a few came up. some designers make them as part of their line.. i'm thinking Ralph Lauren or Armani.

what about a black dress?

from this article -

'Labels from Burberry to MaxMara and Stella McCartney have included versions in their current collections, and there are also plenty of well-cut options on the high street – Zara's is particularly chic.'

from this article-

'The best selection of sale tuxedos are at Blunauta (which also stocks a vast selection of tops to be worn underneath), Pilot (whose jackets have sexy secret linings, printed with Marilyn Monroe-style eyes and lips), Fenwick (which carries high street and designer versions), H & M, Warehouse and Oasis.'

'And, Graham says the recent shift to skinny-leg pants gives the tuxedo an instant update. Her favorite versions come from Chanel, Jil Sander, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani. Some trendsetters have also dared to wear Dior Homme's slim tuxedos, which really were intended for fashion-forward men.

More accessible brands also see the value of ever-so-slightly changing the black-tie look to meet modern demands.

Viktor & Rolf's collection for Hennes & Mauritz and Ann Taylor Loft both featured many tuxedo details in their holiday collections. In fact, when H&M presented the new line to the press, the company's head of design, Margareta van den Bosch, was in a black tuxedo shirt that was part of the men's collection.'

Rag & Bone Jacket & Pants

We love the feminine touch to the typically masculine style of these Rag & Bone Jacket and Pants ($242-$515). Combine the fitted wool blazer, georgette tuxedo shirt, and indigo wide-leg pants for a chic and polished look that fits so many occasions.

Philip Lim’s take on the tux, $525 at www.net-a-porter.com. For a less-expensive rendition, try your nearest H&M for multiple options (we like the Victor & Rolf for H&M version, $99.90, available starting today).

Geez, that sounds so weird.
You've got a great idea about wearing the BM dress in black as an alternative.
I agree about wearing a tux and looking like the waitstaff. Where would you be able to rent a female tux ?
