FFIL and FSMIL are getting remarried...

3 or 4 days after OUR WEDDING. FSMIL was telling people this the other day at FH's niece's communion party. Apparently FSMIL has decided that they should get remarried for their 21st anniversary. Their anniversary date the 27th - our wedding date is the 24th. They will have a church ceremony and they want a reception!!!! Mind you their date is a Tuesday so FH says he can see them wanting to do it on Sunday the day after ours. FSMIL was buzzing around telling everyone this (after some people offered FH and I congrats)

Does anyone else think this is strange or am I just venting for no reason?

Etd to say they have basically told FH they can't help us pay for the rehearsal dinner b/c they are building a house and moving there and need all new furniture

That does not sound right to me at all! Something is up with that - do they seem the jealous type?

I think it is nice that they want to celebrate again, but for their 21st? That's kind of a strange anniversary to do something special and it is way too close to your wedding. Maybe they are just getting excited about your wedding and want to relive theirs? Sorry that you are in this situation, it's hard to say what you should do or feel.

This follows a SLEW of comments at the e-party - My grandmother told them that they had a lovely son and that my grandparents absolutely loved him - their reaction - WE have TWO SONS and they walked away. (Mind you no one in my family had met his brother - our BM- until that party)

First of all, how RUDE of your fil's to say 'we have 2 sons!' Obviously your FH's good manners don't come from there! (I don't mean to offend, this is just how my mind works )

Secondly, if they renew their vows or get married or whatever they're doing AFTER your wedding its better than if they tried to do it a few days before. It definitely seems to me that someone is jealous that they're not in the spotlight -- and unfortunately, I am VERY familiar with this myself. You have every right to annoyed!! Maybe FH should say something to his dad...

I would be mad also. If they had it planned for a while fine, but they're just doing it to aggravate you and Rob. I know it's easier said than done, but don't let it bother you. You will have YOUR friends and YOUR family at your wedding and you and Rob will have a wonderful time. Don't let them ruin this for you, b/c I think that's exactly what they want. Just let it slide and let them live in their warped world

I talk so much about you, he can't wait to meet you either I hope that you guys can meet sometime soon. I'll let you know next week how I'm doing with my finals

I don't know how comfortable you are talking to them, but perhaps you could suggest that they wait and renew their vows on their 25th anniversary, which tends to be a bigger celebration. It doesn't sound like it will matter to her, but at least you could try to talk some sense into her. If not, just ignore her....your wedding is what really matters!

Although they drive me crazy I feel SO bad for FH and they way they are to him. They are DRIVING to Chicago in the summer and then plan on going to Ohio to relax. This is the second time that they are going to Ohio since FH moved to Michigan in August. He asked them to drive the extra 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive to visit him - since they are going right by him. They told him that the 2 hour drive was unconsionable to ask them to do so NO they would NOT be visiting him. But he could feel free to drive out to see them if he needed.

I should add that since they are both retired FFIL has gotten into Jerry Springer and - THAT is why they are going to Chicago - FFIL told FH that he wants to MOON the crowd - - guess that says it all huh
