FFIL help/question

FFIL help/question

FH and i are 99% sure on our invites...but here's the problem....THE WORDING!! My parents are hosting the wedding but it is a complete decision to put FH's parents on the invite so the invite will go as follows:

Mr. and Mrs _____________
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Linda Susan
to
Joseph Anthony
son of

her first name and his first name and their last name (she kept his last name after the divorce)

His mom isnt sure if she wants his name on the invite which is fine. I said either way she and FH decide is more than fine with me. But now i guess my question is this: she doesnt want him on the invite but she wants to walk in with him and dance the first dance with him (keep in mind his 2nd ex wife will be there too who my FMIL gets along with--go figure!). I guess my question is this:
(1) since she wants to walk in with him as in be announced with him should i talk to her about keeping his name on the invite? or if she takes the name off of the invite should they then be announced separately??? or is it ok to take his name off of the invite and still have her walk in and dance with him?

Not to pry but is your FFIL contributing in anyway?

Nope...but it's not about that. It's more or less that we're putting them both on out of respect for them. Technically my parents should only be on the invites.

That's a tough one. Can u talk to FMIL about your concern and/ or why she wants to walk w/ him but not have his name on the invite?

youre right, technically only our parents need to be listed.

however, if you are doing 'son of' both of their names should go there.

honestly, respect wise - both sets of parents should be on it.

fh and i are paying 100% on our own but we are wording it as

my parents
and
FHs parents
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their children
athina
and
thomas.
yada yada yada

I agree....because he is the 'son of' both of them.

I agree completely, we are doing the same. FH's father is non-existant so we are putting 'Son of Ms. Suzanne XXXXX'. If you guys want to do it out of respect for FH's parents, then both names should be on the invite, JMO.

yea i agree both his parents need to be on there if you are writing one it will look as though his father passed away or is not involved in his life... just one question- how come your FMIL & FFIL are walking in together if they aren't still married? I thought people walked with their spouse?

I agree...he is the son of both of them besides FFIL is living at FMIL's house right now (and no they're not getting back together). I also don't want there to be drama with his side of the family.

Just my opinion, but if you're putting FMIL on the invite out of respect, you should put FFIL on there as well. I mean it is his father.

His parents aren't married but they are civil and danced together at the engagement party because after all, they are 'the parents of the groom'...not my words, theirs.

I would put both -- HOWEVER -- even though they share the same last name I would still list it out seperately

son of
susan jones and
tom jones

I know it may sound crazy but that is how I would do it.

I cant put them on separate lines...there is not enough room on the invite.
