FFIL Rant - Invitation problem - Advice?

So we had sent out our STD magnets in December and my FFIL is convinced we screwed up since his family has no idea what it is and wants the invitations sent out now. Our wedding isn't until August! Should I just send out the invitations for his family early and hope that what they respond will be correct 6 months later?

I don't get why he thinks you screwed up I wouldn't send out the invites yet, IMO, but if they are confused, maybe someone can just explain to them?? Did they think the STD was the invitation?

FH has been on the phone with him for the past hour trying to explain to him that the magnet wasn't an invitation, but just to let people know of the date... but FFIL doesn't get it and wants the invitations sent out NOW - which i haven't fully ordered yet anyways... he's like people are confused, how do you respond? Send the invitation now!

he makes no sense, bc if you didnt send out the STD's not like you wouldve sent out invites 6 months in advance regardless ya know. Let them be confused, but obviously as far a date they know when it is. He cant demand when YOU send out invites, its not your fault people dont get what the STD is for, he can explain it for them

No way!!! Sending them out this early is just asking for trouble. People will forget by then. Have FH talk to him and explain to him that this is not the time to send out invites b/c it is too early!

That's what I said, his response was that people wont' forget or change their minds...

Now FH is saying to him its our fault for sending out STD's!! So annoyed. It says 'INVITATION TO FOLLOW'!!!!

Exactly, my whole concern was that people wouldn't know when the wedding would be and then we'll send the invitation two months beforehand and it would be too late for people out of state.

i agree....tell him to just let it go...yes him to death if u have to...he cant put u at gunpoint and MAKE u order the invites. what is he going to do, order them himself?

Just say ok ok and pay him no attention. This shouldnt be using ur energy!

UGH Why are people so insensitive and demanding!! Absolutely do not bend or waste your time being aggravated over it any more. What a cute idea to send out magnet save the dates.....just explain to whoever asks what it is and tell your FFIL that invites will go out when they're supposed to, not 8 months EARLY!!!!!

Don't worry and feel bad over something when ur not wrong.

Now I'm not just mad at my FFIL, but my FH - he told his dad that he had never heard of STD's either so he understands why he's confused.

Thank god for FMIL, she's like what's so hard to understand?! It's a magnet, its purpose is to tell people you're getting married on a certain date, make sure you don't plan anything else on it.
