I know that flowergirls traditionally wear white, but I have come across quite a few weddings where the FG was wearing either white or the color chosen for the BM gowns (or an accent color). I've come across a very adorable (not to mention affordable) FG dress that comes in both the colors I'm using for my wedding - PINK & CELADON. I LOVE them in these colors and I'd like for them to walk down the aisle in either one. I've made mention of this to a couple of people and they've informed that FG's MUST be in white. I never really thought the FG had to be a miniature version of the bride, but rather, just an adorable version of herself.
My question is, does it matter to you if your FG is in white or in the color of your choice? Which dress would you choose? Please share your thoughts ladies.
My flowergirl is wearing pink. My girls are in wine.

My FG's are in ivory with a gold sash, similar to the pics tutti posted.

There is no rule that the FG must be in white. Alot of brides do that but you don't have too. I like it both ways but depends on the age. If the girl is 3 years or younger I would prob do white if they are older than that I would put them in the same color.

What is with all the rules?
It's your day, your pictures, your way! Go with the color! Beautiful!
*And in my opinion - the bride should be the only one wearing white, or whatever color your dress is! not as a rule but more like - Hey, it's my time to shine and I get to feel more special today so I'm the ONLY ONE wearing white! - know what I mean?*

Re: FG dress - to color or not to color???
Personally I live by the statement 'If you like it I love it',. I love the idea of having a colored FG dress, but I'm going for white.
In fact I have been getting a lot of nit picking b/c my daughter is wearing a very dressey dress, b/c that's what she wants and she should be able to dress up like mommy, on mommy's big day.
i love color. my girls will wear lavender/ivory or maybe just lavender

As always, I thank you for your input. I can't say that I ever wanted a FG in white, but it's good to know that I'm not the only one with this idea. I think both FG's will look adorable in their colored dresses.

Sorry I didn't post this information before ladies. The flowergirl dresses are from The Briar Patch
They have an absolutely adorable selection and as I mentioned before (along with a few other brides), very affordable.
