I read about the tragedy in Newsday. Were any of our LIW ladies connected to her? What a terrible, sad, awful story.

Actually, the grandparents which are both currently hospitalized went to my boss's wedding 4 years ago. My boss's parents were friends with them.
Such a tragedy. The latest article in the paper stated the Drunk Driver blew a .28 BAC...thats 3x's the legal level.
My prayers go out to both families (Rabinowitz and Flynn) who have been hurt by this terrible tragedy.

a flower girl..
there was a family in a limo coming back from the moms sister wedding.....the moms parents, the mom, her hussband, and one daughter survived
the 7 yr old daughter and the limo driver did not
and the limo driver soordinated a program ayear ago where he picked up drunk people so they wouldnt drive can you beleive it!?!

oh I heard about that so sad
I don't understand why people still drive drunk - and why this is still happening -
that is just terrible - I heard the car was driving int he wrong direction -

Its just awful. You have to be pretty f'ing drunk to be going 70 MPH on th ehighway in the wrong way. That guy has ruined this family forever, and I hope that he gets the punsihment he deserves, not the slap on the wrist that so many drunk drivers get. My uncle was kille dby a drunk driver over 10 years ago and the guy who hit him walked. What is wrong with people!
My heart goes out to that girls family.

My cousin is good friends with the mother of the FG. What an unbelievable tragedy. I feel so bad for the family, and also for the bride and groom. Imagine having this happen on your wedding night?

I can't get over how many fatal accidents are happening on LI lately. This is a pure tragedy & this man who was drunk deserves to be locked up for life. If I were him I would never even be able to live with myself. And I'm sure he wasn't out alone, why didn't anyone stop this man who was obliviated from driving home???

I feel terrible for that family too. I see that little girls picture in the paper and news and it makes me so sad.
My question is...how the heck did he manage to go the wrong way on the meadowbrook parkway? Did he enter through an exit????

I didn't know the Flowergirl but the limo driver used to work for my fathers limousine company before we sold it-he was such a kind man-my dad is pretty upset about the whole thing.

He has a record of doing it before when he was going to school down south. Newsday did a story on him with the assistance of a reporter down there.

He has a record of driving on the wrong side of a road before (while drunk) when he was going to school down south. Newsday did a story on him with the assistance of a reporter down there.

THe following is very graphic - warning!!! But I have to say it is the most terrible thing I have ever heard - it is a direct quote from the FG - Katie's mother - and just so everyone knows that drunk driver deserved absolutely no sympathy:

I don't think people understand the severity of what happened to us. As I crawled out of the car, the only thing that was left of Kate was her head. And I took her - just that - and sat on the side of the Meadowbrook and watched the horrendousness going on around me. I sat there for about an hour with her as they cut my entire family out of this crushed tin can that we survived.

FH's sister works for Nassau Medical and although she wasn't working the night of the accident some of her collegues were. And I won't even repeat the graphic stories that happened.
Doesnt even matter. All that matters now is justice is served to this irresponsible, reckless, thoughtless person we call human.
