What if I got them a backpack like this: And filled it with fun stuff for them, like spiderman stuff for the boy and Dora stuff for the girl? Or should I get them something fancier like jewelry? They don't really wear jewelry though

Re: FG/RB gift question.
I think they would like the backpacks better and I think it is a really cute idea. Younger kids are not going to want jewelry. Cute idea!!!

Re: FG/RB gift question.
The Backpack is appropriate for the 'back to school' time of year, but that also makes it sort of 'AHHH!!! BACK TO SCHOOL!! nooo!!!'
Although at that young they are only pre-K and probably love school.
It's cute, thoughtful, and fun. Go for it.

Re: FG/RB gift question.
I like the backpacks. They are young? Maybe get them the backpacks and put a Toys R Us Gift Certificate inside as well, aside from the school stuff. Also, you don't need to fill the backpack with school stuff....you can fill it with anything.
I got my FG.... -A T-Shirt -This Cherised Teddies Figurine and a Disney Princesses agenda book and a Disney Princesses Note Pad.
I am also going to get her a tiara to wear the day of and the basket is her's to keep.
I'm having a hard time deciding too. The girls are 3 and 4 and the boys are 7 and 8. I thought jewelry would be nice because it's something they can keep as a reminder for long time even if they can't really appreciate it now. But I like your idea too... it's something fun for them now... maybe a combination of the two?
I was also looking at those silver piggy banks... thought they were cute and useful...
I got my ringbearer a backpack too. I got him one with a shark on it and I got his name on it (from LLBean). He loved!! He took on the plane with him on his way home!!
I still smile thinking of the way his eyes lit up when he saw his name on it!!

Re: FG/RB gift question.
I did something very similar. I went to the dollar store and filled plastic briefcases with crayons, markers, colring books, stickers, Go Fish, etc... Each one only cost about $10 and I'm going to get my RB and silver truck bank with his name engraved on it (he'll be 4) and I'm getting my FG and little charm bracelet (she'll be 6 and she's a girly-girl.) If I had bought them slightly more expensive stuff for their briefcases I wouldn't have bought the extra gift.

So was I, but for my FG. I only have one and I might be purchasing her dress so the gifts I listed before are going to be it. I might get a Build A Bear for my Jr. BM...my little sister.

I think for a 3 and 4 year old, that's a great gift. I think I'm getting my FGs American Girl dolls but I'm not sure what I'm getting for my RB, boys are always harder!

Re: FG/RB gift question.
Julz I like the backpacks. Kids love to think they have 'important ' things to lug around!.
If you have enough $, I would suggest getting something they can keep for when they are older, like an engraved glass or little figurine.
