FH and I are crazy -- Maui question too -- Ka'anapali Beach Hotel or Royal Lahaina?
OK, FH and I just bought one-way tickets to Maui -- isn't that crazy?!? We were going back and forth with Travel Tom -- who is really nice, but FH hated the idea of dealing with someone we couldn't sit down with, and we were finding most of the same stuff online for the same price. Then FH found a flight at a great time for a better price than Tom, so he called me and asked should he book it, so I said sure. We know we are going to do Maui, then Molokai, and end up at the Hyat in Kauai. Since we are going fancy in Kauai, we need to be more moderate in Maui. Molokai is so small an uncommercial, it looks so cool and laid back, and very cost effective. Has anyone stayed at either the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel or the Royal Lahaina? They are on the same beach with the Hyatt and Sheraton, and a lot less $ -- any opinions?

My parents stayed at the Kaanapali beach hotel and loved it! That's my recommendation!

My friend stayed at Ka'anapali Beach Hotel and loved it. He goes a few times a year and he raves about this hotel.

My FH and I booked 4 nights at the the Royal Lahaina. It's so funny you say that about Travel Tom, we pretty much had the same experience with him. While he was very nice we just couldn't come to any kind of agreement with him as to what would be best for us. So we ended up doing alot of research on our own, and we booked everything oursleves. I know that the Royal Lahaina has just undergone a major renovation (33 mil I think) and came highly recommended to us by my FH's boss who lives in Hawaii. The only thing I have heard about The Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is that is supposed to be very 'authentic.' We did alot of research through www.tripadvisor.com, you can find info. about both hotels on that site. Just make sure that if you book at the Royal Lahaina you ask to stay in the newly renovated tower. I know they also have little cottages that from what I hear are in really bad shape, they haven't bothered to renovate them because they are going to knock them down soon to build condos.

Thank you! I did look at trip advisor, both had some great reviews,and a few not-so-great, so I wanted to see if anyone here had any input! I feel so much better hearing from you ladies. I guess I can't really go wrong with either! Hey, its Hawaii! I sometimes need to remember not to stress over things and just make a decision -- not that I have yet, but I think I have narrowed it down to those 2.

Ive stayed at Kaanapali Hotel and loved it!!! i also went into the bigger more expensive hotels closer by and they dont give you the warm hawaiian feelthat kaanapali gives you. i highly recommend it.
