I am not sure there's an appropriate icon for this one. My cat Clover is moving in with us a week from today. She lives with my parents, but my parents are moving and can't take her with them. The reason she doesn't live with us already is b/c of FH's two cats (Helmut and Scrappy).
Helmut is FIV+ (Cat AIDS), and both he and Scrappy are outdoor cats and have claws.
Clover is 16. She is an indoor cat and is declawed. We have to put up a wall this weekend to close off a room for her to stay in when the other cats are up here in our apt. I am so nervous... she's never been around other cats. Not to mention dogs! FMIL's dogs don't come up here too much but they are ALWAYS barking (howling, for the beagle).
I am really seriously worried bc she is so old, i don't know if she can handle this. But she is the sweetest thing ever, my 'queen meow.'

Im sure it will be fine, if shes indoor and they are mostly outdoor. just make sure that they are exposure to each other. I would be scared too

I think Clover will be ok. She may hide a little and it will take a little getting used to the other animals. But I am sure she will fit right in eventually. Keep us updated on her.

aww. that is awesome. i want another cat so badly. as far as the cat & the howling beagle, you don't have anything to worry about. my sister has a beagle that lives upstairs from us. when FHs cat was alive she didn't care about the beagle making noise. the once or twice my sister brought her to visit, the dog was so stupid she didn't notice the cat, but the cat noticed her right away & jumped on top of the counter.

I hope so - Clover has never heard a dog bark in her life! I guess except maybe when she was a wee kitten at 0-8 weeks old at the north shore animal league!

They will probably beat the c r a p out of eachother at first and then slowly adapt to eachother I have 4 who came at all different times and now they all have their own relationships just like siblings. Even my dog who we adopted when he was 2 found a way to fit in. They are adaptable. Just expect alot of hissing, growling, and raised hair.

when is the move taking place? If you have a week or two (or longer) I'd ween the cat into the house. treat the animals like they were kittens, you dont want them fighting and you dont want to stress clover out.
