Ok so my FH is set on having 'the dollar dance' and he is not taking no for an answer, he's even picking out music
I on the other hand, do not like it....I don't really care for the idea and its embarrasing...for me it is.
Am I being too stuffy about it? I don't know what to do...everytime he mentions it, I wanna cancel the whole thing.
What to do???

Re: FH and I Dilemma
could you tell me a lil more about what a dollar dance is. FH have very different opinions about how our wedding should be as well. him= totally 100% traditional. me= not at all!
We compromise on everything. I would say our wedding is turning out to me traditional with a twist.
My number #1 tool is to find out WHY he wants the things he does and then find a way of still honoring that by doing what you want. lol. so far it has worked everytime.
can we come up with a creative dollar dance without it being... uhh embarrising for you (leaving out my opinions on it.. lol)

Re: FH and I Dilemma
haha i'm sorry but i think the dollar dance is so funny. it's really fun to do when you're drunk. and hilarious to watch when other people are drunk. i understand why you wouldn't want it at your wedding though. it could be a bit embarassing.
maybe you guys can compromise? is there anything that you want to do during the reception that he doesn't?
ETA: i might be thinking of the wrong dollar dance? are you talking about the one where it goes 1 cent, 5 cent, 10, cent, dollar? and you shake your hips to the right, left, back, and center?- and than it goes dollar dollar dollar dollar? sorry, im just confused.

I see your point. Is there something else you can do as an alternative?

Re: FH and I Dilemma
I am having the same issue with the garter thing...FH is insisting and I am like I really really don't want to do it ...it would be fine if these things they wanted to do did not have to involve our participation...

Re: FH and I Dilemma
if this is what your talking about then i believe the dollar dance goes a little something like....
basically throughout the whole song until it goes....
dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar
over and over again...
and u move your hips left, right, back, front, to the beat
its cute but I wouldn't have it at a wedding but if your FH likes the song then just give in, bc its his wedding too...you have many other decisions to make on your own that you prob won't even tell him about...lol

the one i saw was at a greek wedding. the bride was dancing and everyone was gathered around throwing money. when i went to greek clubs with my friends they also did it there but mostly when everyone was drunk.

Re: FH and I Dilemma
how about having people pay a dollar to dance with the groom instead of the bride. He seems to be the one really into it, is it part of his heritage by the way? since youre uncomfortable doing it, its a good compromise. I am sure it will be one of those funny moments having just your Fh do it.
