The RH gave us 10 cake design options and we hate all of them. 8 of the 10 are HIDEOUS .... the other two are ok, but still nothing wonderful.
it's really crappy that they give such awful choices!!
and i refuse to spend more money on a cake (unless it's like $20, but i seirously doubt that)

Can you bring them a picture of something you like? NRC showed us a book of cakes that they generally do, but I knew exactly what I wanted. I brought them a picture and they replicated it perfectly.

tell them...maybe they can change it a little..show them something you like! sorry. i refuse to pay more for a cake too.
i wasnt thrilled with my choices, but just did a simple, plain one.

Nope. I still stayed within their 'limits' meaning I didn't do any upgraded flavors or fondant, and the general style of the cake was pretty standard - 5-tier round and stacked. But it was the rhinestone ribbon and flowers that were different. I provided the ribbon, my florist provided the flowers, and that was it!

I hated our choices too. we didnt speak up and we wish we did. Now we are afraid we are going to have an ugly cake. we wanted a simple design but they told us there would still be a charge to customize it. we didnt show them the design and i wish we did. I just wanted like black ribbon look on the bottom... now we have some ugly design

Are they too gaudy or busy or something? If they are hideous, I am thinking maybe you can have them do 'less' to the cakes...Maybe a simple design..... I am using the the bakery the RH recommends..We didn't want to pay extra, and found a cake called a 'wave' cake design which is bascially white, with white lines across it and some pretty white flowers coming down the front...very simple... Good luck...

but that requires us to add $$$ to pay for the new cake and we can't really afford to. it's a good idea otherwise though
