I don't know why, but FH gets stuck on whatever vendor we see first. When we went to halls, he became fixated on the first one. Same with video and photo. Its not that he won't go to more appointments, but he just goes for me, his mind is really already made up. I want him to give all the vendors a chance, I want to see at least three for every major category (florist, DJ, etc.). Now I feel like I have to pick the winner every time and see them first or we will end up with someone horrible. pressure! I don't know what to do!

Re: FH and vendors
LOL funny! My FH got stuck on the last vendor of the three we saw. I told him he had a recency bias. lol

I was like that for most of my vendors. I didn't really shop around much.

Re: FH and vendors
FH is the same way. He so gullible and is sold over any little thing. As for me, I am one tough bride and I need to milk the vendor for everything I can LOL
Example: we went to a DJ appt last night and I could tell by FH face he was 'in love'. BUT the DJ was out of our budget and we said we would have to figure out if we could or not at a later time. I left to use the rest room and when I came back I overheard FH speaking to the DJ.... My first response was ' you didn't sign anything did you?' the DJ was hilariously laughing.

FHs focus on the strangest things sometimes...
Not that I'm suggesting you trick your FH and i realize time is valuable, but maybe you should make your first appt for vendors with someone you're considering but pretty sure you wont go with. that way when you see the next two vendors, you'll have a basis of comparison that is most likely lower than each. does that make sense? and then he might not focus on them being the first vendor as much as the real factors.
HTH!

Re: FH and vendors
I feel like I'm that way too .. although I have tried to be better with the vendors
I'm a impulse shopper .. If i like it, I want it and buy it. I don't need to think about it or wait for it to go on sale.
FH has tried to break me out of this. I always say 'But baby, I neeeeeeeed it!' and he tells me to walk around the store and hold the item for a while .. then rethink about my decision lol

Re: FH and vendors
My FH seems to be the same way! We actually ended up booking and not even seeing any other vendors for the photo and DJ. I had of course done a TON of research on photo before hand, but we just instantly clicked with NIP, FH especially.
If your FH still goes to see all 3 vendors and still likes the 1st it must just be coincidence that he keeps going back to #1. Or he hopes by liking #1 that he won't be dragged to other meetings LOL I question FH about this sometimes.

I did all my pre-shopping on these boards so I think that's why most of my vendors were on the first try.

Re: FH and vendors
I really feel that with the internet I can do a lot of my shopping around online. We only went to 3 RH before we decided on The Woodlands. Other than that we booked things really on the first shot and I am OK with that! I love my photographer, make up artist, favors, band, invitations, florist!
I am happy with my decisions and don't feel the need to see a set number of people before I book!!

Re: FH and vendors
I usually do alot of research before hand and then go to the one I most likely think I want to book first.
Hall--- We booked the second one we saw (but we did go to a few after)
Photo- Only went to Patken. Loved them and booked
Florist - Went to two and booked the second one
DJ- Went to Two and booked the second one.
DOC- Went to a million and booked the 2nd one I saw
So apparently I like the 2nd vendor!

I have had my susspisions that he just doens't want to go to all of these vendors, but I can't prove it!
Normally, I do a lot of research online, then just go out to buy something, but I am also a worrier and I don't want to regret any of my choices for the wedding. I really liked the first venue we saw (Warehouse 5), but they can't do a sit-down dinner. If I hadn't pushed to go other places, we would have had to compromise more than at the RH we actually picked.
I love the first videographer we saw, but they are expensive (admititdly still the best work I have seen). FH went from not even wanting a videographer to insisting on this expensive one. Now he keeps saying 'you get what you pay for'. But he didn't even want to pay for it in the first place!

It's a good idea, and I may try it out, but what if he still falls in love with the first vendor? That's a gamble I don't know if I can take.
We haven't started visiting vendors yet (just a lot of online research on my part) but FH didn't seem to have a pattern for the venues he liked when we visited them. We were somewhat close to booking a venue in NJ but I felt like it was missing something and I wouldn't be totally happy there...FH seemed to like that place a lot, but we're both happy that we decided to hold out. Our venue looks SO much nicer than the other one!

Re: FH and vendors
FH was like that with the DJ too. We met with one DJ and he was completely sold on booking them esp. b/c he tended to do a lot of work with our photographer and videographer. Then we met with DJ #2 and he became stuck on him. By the time we met DJ #3, he wanted nothing to do with them because he was stuck on DJ 2.
