Fhs dog died today...I feel so terrible..I never had a dog so I don't really know what to say...she has been sick for a little while and is very old...but it is still sad! They were planning on putting her down this evening but FMIL went home and found her laying by the back door. So horrible!

Aww thats so sad! This prob sounds really weird but a part of me believes that the dog sensed that he was going to be put down and in a way prob just gave into the sickness to avoid that... Oh god, I prob sound like a nut now

Hahaha no i dont think youre nuts...we all went over there yesterday to say goodbye so part of me thinks that she came to terms with dying because she 'Said goodbye' to all of us...man, we are both nuts...

I know how it is to be the gf of the guy who lost his dog. My FH's dog died this year. He was depressed for like 2 days. It was his childhood dog too. Its amazing how guys grow so attached to their animals. Us too-if my cat died I would be a mess

I know! I feel terrible...and this was not even 'his' dog it was his sisters! I can only imagine what will happen when 'his' dog Jack dies eventually!

A year ago last month I had to put FH pitbull 'Jawz' to sleep ,... he was the most loving pitbull ever ... but very old , 14 years old. FH made me do it because Jawz was suffering and he could not do it himself ... when I tell you, it was sooo hard looking into Jawz's eyes as he took his last breath.. its something I'll never forget ... FH was depressed for a while. This is the part where you guys are going to think I'm crazy but, this was whenFH wasnt working and didnt have too much money so without him knowing I had the dog creamated (sp?) and when I gave it to him he cried so much he couldnt believe it! and every day when he passes Jawz he always says something like I miss you jawzy or I love that dog ... It is amazing how attached you get to a dog! Just be there for him!!

aww so sorry to hear about his dog...i know I would be lost without mine....
FH put his dog to sleep last year, she was a yellow lab and that was the first time I saw him cry so hard....it was so hard to watch her take her last breath but we were all there ...they are like family and when you have them for a long time they become your best friends. oh this makes me so sad
Give him lots of hugs and just be there...good luck with everything. I'm so sorry to hear
