FH EX-WIFE NEVER SIGNED THEIR MARRIAGE LICENSE!!!!

okay, so maybe I'm getting my hopes up.......As FH & I were putting together our papers to show the priest and prove that he never got married in a church, and that it was only at city hall, we realized that she never signed the marriage license! The officiant's signature is there! The groom's signature, as well as the 2 witnesses' signature's are there, but the bride's signature isn't!!!!

does this mean that their marriage wasn't legal? does it make it null & void? or is it still binding and a valid marriage even though she didn't sign? I guess noone noticed that when they processed the divorce.

Please oh please, let their marriage be null & void so that I don't have to continue jumping through hoops to get married in the Catholic Church!

if anyone has any info on this topic, please let me know!

So what was hte ned result,, Marriage Legit or Null & Void - Did you get an answer?

no answers yet. My friend works for a law firm and was going to look into it. I've tried to get answers from the City Clerk's office, but no one ever picks up! anyway, she was going to go there herself and find out for me since she works in the area. she has a copy of it so hopefully, when they see it for themselves, they'll say 'whoops! our bad! it null and void' lol. I know I'm hoping for big results, but it would be so fabulous if it were null and void!

According to my parents Ketubah, my mother is married to the Rabbi. Their civil license, I believe is correct.

No way, Leslie! I mean this in a nice way, but this can only happen to someone connected to you!!! Speaking of which, Happy New Year.

My question to the original poster is this--Are you sure you were looking at an original of the license that was on file? Are you sure there is not a correct version of it somewhere?

Those who say the marriage is NOT null and void are right.

There is no real requirement for a marriage license and the lack thereof or mistake on one will not void a marriage, as others have explained.

okay girls.........we were able to book the church and submit the paperwork to the church with no problems so I'm not going to stress the issue anymore! LOL

I'm just relieved that we were able to book the church.

I'm sorry if I was a pain in the bootie, stressing about this issue, but you girls were all so helpful!
