i just got done talking to my friend who isnt even engaged yet and has massive drama with her future in laws and family. I have heard so many things from people about their other halfs family....i LOVE my future in-laws and family since day one they made me feel as though i was part of the family. I acutally chose to go to their family gathering over mine....what is everyone elses relationship with FH family like? seems as though alot of brides dont have a good one
So far it seem good.
disaster. total disaster. if i went into it, my post would take up 10 pages at a minimum. it *****. i get along with everyone, i've always had great relationships with my friend's parents, and then my luck, the two people that i truly dislike are going to be my in-laws. and it wasn't always this way, though i always had my suspicions. FH and I have been dating for 7 years and on our FIRST date back in December of 1999, he warned me that he came from a dysfunctional family. i kept saying to him that it probably wasn't as bad as he was making it out to be- he was probably just blowing the situation out of proportion. 7 years later, i understand what he was talking about. it didn't take me 7 years to figure it out, but ever since we started planning the wedding things have gotten WAY worse. i come from a family where everyone loves eachother, my parents have an amazing relationship, and my sister and i get along really well. my parents have always been so fair and equal when it comes to what they do for both of us. they put us both through college, they have wedding funds for both of us (in equal amounts) and pretty much everything they do for one of us they make sure to do for the other. not in FH's family. i call FH the step-child. he never asks for anything and gets sh*t on all the time. but he says they're his parents and so he keeps going back for more abuse time and time again. UGH!!!! so frustrating! wow- i thought i wasn't gonna get into it!
i should add......i love his sister and his brother. so at least that's one (or two!) good things!
Thats great!!!!!!! My FH's mom is a cuckoo. She doesn't even acknowledge my birthday w/a phone call or card...(FH did remind her the day before).. I hope your relationship w/them continues to go well. Good luck.
