It's too bad the mets are away - it would be a great time to go to a game.
ETA: If you go to the Coney Island Aquarium, maybe you can also catch a Brooklyn Cyclones game. Tix are pretty cheap, and it's so much fun!

i would say go out to breakfast together than later on in the afternoon go to the movies see a good comedy movie. than go down port and walk around port jeffand walk the boardwalk or walk the beach. than rent a block buster movie for the night if you are not to tired rom the day. that is one thing you can do all in oneday.
