FH has no opinion on anything!
Hi, Ladies!
Wanted to get your opinion on my most recent aggravation:
FH lives in CT, while I live in NY. Our wedding (next Oct) is going to be in NY. I've been doing most of the research on photogs, florists, etc., because A.) I'm in the area where the wedding is being held, and B.) the wedding requires Chinese vendors (and you don't have many of those in CT). I e-mail him pictures, pass along websites, and we share a handy google doc to keep track of all of my research and make sure I stay on budget. However, he has yet to give me an opinion on anything--even when I ask!
Ideally, I'd like him to do some research too, so I can tell him what I think about his choices. However, it's hard for him to visit these days to speak to vendors in person. He's going on business trips or company retreats, and trying to appease the FMIL during holidays. In fact, I'll be lucky if I see him in person before the New Year.
So, it just looks like I'll be doing all the visiting and talking to people. Do I really need to wait for him to give an opinion if he doesn't outright hate anything? It was hard enough booking the banquet hall without his full opinion (aside from a response of: 'That place is nice. If that's where you want it'). And getting his signature for the ceremony venue was a two month fiasco.
Booking things without him just makes me feel like it's *my* wedding, but not *our* wedding. I mean, I'm sending him a list of potential candidates. He's just saying they're all OK, and doesn't offer any thoughts on them. Am I making a big deal out of nothing?
I realize I probably have more than one issue here and I'm just ranting... but I appreciate your thoughts! (or you can just tell me to chill out)
