FH hates the garter I chose ::sigh::

So, I wasn't even going to do the garter thing, but when I thought about it more, I decided I wanted one. Just like we were talking about in the train thread, I was thinking that how many other times would I have a chance to wear a garter anyway?

I was at the Mets game today and when I got home, I just KNEW that I wanted a Mets garter. FH isn't into baseball, but I really am, and I knew it would mean a lot to me and just be something fun and personal I could do for myself.

So I found this online:

I loved it immediately and ordered it on the spot. I usually consult with FH about things, but this I figured I couldn't go wrong!

I sent him a pic yesterday (he lives in NC so we're not together right now for those who don't know) and on the phone last night he said 'Why couldn't you just get an ordinary garter? I really don't want Mets stuff at our wedding.' This, after I spent a few minutes so excited telling him about it! I was so disappointed and sad.

I emailed the lady at sew unique to see if we can make the main garter an 'ordinary' one and just for me to keep the throw-away as a mets one, so I'll see what she says. I figured it was a good compromise. But I'm really surprised by FH's reaction a disappointed.

Am I being ridiculous? If FH has an opinion about something wedding-related (he has so few), I should just listen to him, right? This is supposed to be OUR happy experience starting our life... I don't want to be sad about any aspect of it!

you are not being ridiclous. . you were excited about something and wanted him to be excited and he reacted the opposite. . on the good side it's nice that he cares about stuff at the wedding. . it's just too bad that he didn't agree!!!! I think you should use the mets garter anyway and also have the other one. . you could also always think about using it for something fun at your bach party!!!!

I think I'm going to get this bridal garter (the lady said she'd sub it for no extra cost!) and the mets toss garter:

I hope he likes this one! It's funny, I wasn't even going to show him the mets one and just have it on the day of, but I was so excited about it I wanted to tell him. Sometimes it's ok to have different loves, as long as you love each other most of all... I always told him the mets are a close second.
