FH & I disagreeing about...

FH & I disagreeing about...

... seating arrangements.

I wanted a sweetheart table. He wanted the main head table (with BMs & GMs). He gave me that one.

He wants BMs & GMs at the next table.
I want them to sit with their guests.
We both want immediate family (parents & siblings) close.

Fine, but how can we do this with 10 BMs/GMs, while having round tables that hold 10 people?

*If we sit them with their guests, then we need two tables, but then that means that one group will be farther than the other group.

*If we sit them immediately to the left & right of us, at separate tables, then the immediately family isn't close.

*If we sit the family to one side, and the BP to the other side, then the guests will be at a separate table....

Argh!!!!!!! HELP!!!

I have no advice for you. I thought me and FH were going to fight over it too but when we went back to Woodbury CC and looked at the tables, we instantly said the same seating arrangements.

Good luck!

I don't know what to say about the tables, but I gotta say, I am tired of the whole 'compromise' thing!

Mine says he doesn't care and than he does!

I want to do the 'garter' thing and he doesn't.. I am not stepping down from this!

WE are doing it!

I know! Why can't we have the FH that just shows up!??? Noooooooo, he wants to be involved with all the decisions! lol

I would tell him that you want to have him to yourself, hence the sweetheart table, during dinner. Your bridal party will be more comfortable being with their guests/family then being on display in front of everyone.

Tell him the dias is old fashioned!!

No offense to anyone having a dais...I like them but for the sake of this agument...I made that statement!!

U misunderstood... we're doing the sweetheart table... I convinced him with the '1st dinner as husband & wife'.... lol.

It's the BP that I'm concerned about now.

ahhhhhhhhhhh...I see! Glad you 'won' that one!!

I had my bridal party sit with thier guests/familes and I made sure that they were the closest to the dance floor....but that wasnt necessarialy closest to us. They didnt really care...as long as the bar was open and the music was playing!!

My feeling is that your wedding party & their dates should be the two closest tables.... Then your parents... and close family and then close friends.... and then extended family and friends.

I think you should have your parents closer than your BP (at 2 tables with their guests).

I know!!!! Mine keeps saying thats all he wants to do is just show up, but than he wants to make decision and be involved in them!

I guess he knows I have my head in the cloud, and if I was to do it myself, I would have a MILLION dollar wedding

I put the BP close to me. I wish I hadn't.

If I could do it over, I would put the parent tables closest to us. Then, the bridal party tables after them.

We are doing a sweetheart table...to one side will be the bm's and their guests, to the other side is the groomsmen with their guets...since all my friends/family are bm's and his closest gm's..it works out perfect..
Our parents will be at the first tables that are not to the side of the sweetheart table....

I would not want a table with the bridal party, I would not know where to sit their guests and I wouldnt want someones wife sitting alone...

Ok, your choice sounds doable... but what do you mean by that the parents table is the 1st table not at the side?

Re: FH & I disagreeing about...

At our hall we have the sweetheart table in the back of the room with two tables on either side of it....then there is a space( walking space I guess) then that starts the tables on either side of the dane floor...so kinda like their are two tables to the side of the sweetheart table, then the regular tables by the dance floor...

We are going to have some of our BP sitting with us, and some at their own table next to us. (we are not doing a sweetheart table) I feel more comfortable seating the BP with their guests. I hated it when my FI was in a weddign party and they had a dais table, and I had to sit by myself at a table where I did not know anyone...JMO!

Re: FH & I disagreeing about...

our wedding was kinda small, but maybe this will help you?
We had BP & friends, etc on one side and both families on the other. and sat everyone with their 'groups' so they could have a nice time socializing as well. If you really want the BP together on their own, you could seat them with their 'others' and just have a couple of tables?

I'm sure it will work out! Men!

good luck!

This is exactly how I want to do it.

But I still need to convince my FH. He wants the traditional dias with the , and bridal party (w/o guests). He thinks that they (the BP) are our honored guests and should sit with us; while I think that they'll be happiest sitting with their guest and aren't concerned about feeling 'honored.'

Re: FH & I disagreeing about...

I would definitely have the bridal party sit with their dates...otherwise what is the point of them bring them? Also, if I were a date, I would be pissed that I could not even eat with them.

If you want the bridal party so close, then you should not have a sweetheart table.

Re: FH & I disagreeing about...

i would have the BP with dates. FH's BM had a dais and although i am fine wherever one puts me, both FH and i missed spending time and eating together...

another thing to think about when setting up tables with older people, don't have them next to the band/dj. at my FSIL's wedding, her parents were right next to the band with my parents, and when the music was cranked they could not hold a conversation... the BP was on the dance floor going nuts, but the older folks wanted to chat...they were 'forced' to go outside...
