FH is a big baby

FH is a big baby

I just have to vent. My fiance has not spoken more than 2 words to me all day. He was fine up until about 11:00 last night, but then he got very quiet. He always does this when he feels that I don't give him enough attention. He pouts, sulks and doesn't talk to me for up to 3 days sometimes. It drives me crazy. I have spoken to him about this numerous times, after he comes out of his hissy fit. I can't talk to him while he sulking because he has a major attitude. He'll come around eventually and act like nothing happened. Then I'll tell him how pissed off I am over his antics and he'll say 'I'm working on changing.' AAARRGGH!

The positive part is that he gets upset because sometimes we don't spend enough time together, which is better I guess than getting upset over finances or cleaning the house. I just feel like he acts like such a baby and he needs to grow up.

Thank you for letting me vent!

Yes we live together so we see each other every day, but that isn't 'quality time' . When I try to give him attention while he's in one of his moods it backfires completely. I can't talk to him when he's like that.

This is an ongoing thing with him.. It's the only time we fight.

Smack him??

(No, I am not advocating spousal abuse)

Can you pinpoint the cause of these moods...i.e is it after work...after an interaction with his mother....after you do something...etc...

honestly i would really try and sit down and talk to him about it when he is in a good mood-- tell him how much it bothers you and that you are honestly tired of it-- vent-- he will respect you for being honest with him and hopefully his 'i am trying to change' will change--

Is he an only child? FH is and he gets like that sometimes. Last time we argued he stopped speaking to me for 2 days. When you live together it is actually very comical bc I just act normal. To add to it, i would text him

Go to counseling.
He needs more help than just 'working on it'. There are other issues that have to come out.

I've got a 45 year old 'baby' and it suck s. Train them early enough because it gets more difficult as they get older.
I have to teach him to help with the housework. I feel more like a live in housekeeper than a wife and it is really building resentment in me. Yet he claims he helps.
Does dishes once a week.
Talked about going grocery shopping for days, but yesterday all of a sudden came out with, do we really need to go ?

Yes, counseling may help. People think that counseling means that they have problems but not necessarily. Sometimes it can help us to learn how to communicate positively with each other. Maybe it will help him to be able to tell you that he feels you dont spend enough time together rather than shutting down. I know I sometimes do that with my FH..I just shut down when something bothers me. I decided that I need to learn how to communicate in a positive way as well...so maybe a counseling session or two is in the near future for me.

Good Luck!
