fh is all fired up!!!

we have a wood burning stove and since we have been living here (3 years) we havent used it.

well now just this past week fh is obsessed with getting a fire going!!!

At approx 9:00pm we will be lighting our first fire!!!

he alreaady turned the heat off like an hour ago!!

It is really cute how excite dhe is!! I just hope he doesn't burn the house down!!

um...dont know what happened but we have one and use it almost every night...it heats the whole florida room in ou apartmenjt...we call it 'the Ponderosa'

Hello all, FH here.

The fire has begun and so far so good. Lately I've had a real craving to finally fire this baby up but I had to learn how this thing works so I don't burn the house down. First things first, check for the necessities for a newbie wood burning stove owner. Check for matches, read the users manual, and make sure we have a working fire extinguisher. All systems go.
I called the manufacturer of our wood burning stove today to go through, step by step, how to work this thing. He verified all of the steps for me and wished me luck.
One thing I noticed is that I had to replace the gasket on the door. I found a local fireplace store by us today and brought the whole iron door into the shop and asked the guy, 'how the hell do I put a gasket on this thing'. He hooked me up with the stuff I needed, and I fixed the door.
That brings us to now. I lit these tiny *** brick looking fire starter thing-a-majiggies and lit em up. Those little buggers lit up damn quick. I threw a few logs on em and off we went. Flames are going pretty strong, no smoke in the house & it looks like the fire extinguisher will stay securely fastened to the wall...........for now.

I have to engage the combuster now so I'm off..... future updates in a few.

Aww this sounds like me and FH trying to start a charcoal grill for a bbq on the beach

We have one and we love it! Keeps our house so warm! and saves alot of money in oil!
