Well FH received his 6 month review today and they said that they are going to be laying him off after the wedding. .
They said that with him becoming a married man and wanting to start a family they couldn't offer him the money that he wanted for the position he was doing so they are going to let him go.
I am bummed about it because honestly no one should have to worry about this right before their wedding but in a way I am happy because I know that he had to leave the job to start on something better. My FH is the type of person that once he is comfortable in something, that's it it will take hell or high water to get them to go.
So all while I am happy about him moving on to something new/ I am still asking for everyone's prayers and well wishes that he finds something better soon.

I can't believe they laid him off because he is getting married and wants more money?!?!?!?! But it all happens for a reason! I bet something better will come along soon!!

I'm sorry, that is such a hard blow - but I'm sure you are right - it will all work out for the best!

So sorry... but better AFTER the wedding and not before! My FH lost his job in April, thankfully we still made a go of the wedding...

isnt that like marriage discrimination? seriously if an employer didn't higher me or promote me cause i was getting married i'd talk to HR.

sorry to hear but at least they are waiting until AFTER the wedding...my DH got laid off just before we got engaged...still not employed but hoping this consulting will turn into something...hopefully your FH will move onto bigger & better things..and can start looking now!!!!!!

That's such a crap...almost everyone gets married and starts a family so how does that affect his job?
Don't feel bad, right after we booked the hall and had payment up the wazooo FH got laid off -he is an electrician and it's hard to find work - so far he has been out of work for 5 months

i agree with whoever said this is marriage discrimination. why cant they just say 'we cant give you a raise' and let him stay on until he finds another job? id call lawyer!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I know that we were lucky for them to do it after the wedding. They are also going to pay him for the week of the honeymoon so we are happy about that.
The problem with reporting it to H.R. is that the Boss who is laying him off is literally in bed with the H.R. Rep.

OMG..I am so sorry to hear this! But thankfully it will be after the wedding. At least FH can look for a job without wedding $$ pressures, etc. etc...When one door closes, another one opens!! Keeping my fingers crossed that something comes up quickly for you both!! Good luck and lots of prayers for you and FH.

Well, I can understand the whole getting laid off right before you have to do somehting with the wedding... I was laid off from a good paying job right before my 1st payment to my cattering hall was due. You are both in a deepest thoughts and prayers. I know there is something better out there for him and this was the motovation for him to find it. Tell him to check careerbuilder.com, I have always found them to be one of the best resources for job openings.

That has to be against the law because getting married is no reason to lay someone off. Very strange I would speak to someone about that and find out your rights.

Ugh! Getting laid off is never easy and right after the wedding does not make it any better!! Best of luck to FH for finding a new and fabulous job that pays him what he is worth!!
