FH is golf crazy...

Does anyone else have a FH that is borderline obcessed with golf? He plans his golfing for the week and expects everything else to revolve around it! My FH has just recently become golf crazy, now he wants me to schedule meetings with vendors around it, as well as plans with friends. First I was afraid that I would be alone all the time after marriage because he is a lawyer, now I am more afraid of being a golf widow! What do I do? I thought this would happen when he was like 40, not 25! UGH...thanks for letting me vent.

Re: FH is golf crazy...

Oh girl, I feel your pain! Mine is also a Head Varsity Football coach. So it is golf ALL spring and summer and Football all fall and winter. What you need to do is find one of the other widows to befriend. Thankfully we have a couple who we are very close with, her husband is also a Head Varsity Football coach at another school and a golf fanatic. So I have someone to hang out with while they are off doing their thing! The more the merrier. I think I am close with all of the Head Varsity FB coaches in Baltimore County It is no coincidence that we are getting married at the Hamlet Windwatch GOLF & Country Club. When he talks about the wedding, he talks about playing on the course the day before.

Re: FH is golf crazy...

My FH wants to go to sandals st. lucia for the honeymoon, now I am thinking it is because of the golf course they have! I need to find some friends who are abandoned by golf crazy men. I am not sure I can deal with this. I think I need to have a talk with him...LOL!

Re: FH is golf crazy...

I am in the golf widow club!! My FH had off all last week, and golfed 4 out of the 5 weekdays. Today was his last day off, and last night he says, so what are we going to do tomorrow. I said, lets go to the beach if it's sunny (we live right in long beach). Well, I'm driving home from work around 11:30, get stuck at the drawbridge and decide to check my cell phone. Who is there a message from - my FH telling me he went golfing with a friend AGAIN. Normally, I'm like whatever about it, but today I was P.O.ed!! So if you golf widows ever want to get a drink, just let me know!!!!!! You can come to the beach with me!!

Re: FH is golf crazy...

Oh, same with me. Everything depends on the golf game. Becky, I'm getting married at the Hamlet also, and of course, they are planning a game the day before.

Re: FH is golf crazy...

That is so funny Becky. FH picked the Hamlet because 1. The free tee time the day before and 2. the view and our pictures on the golf course.

My FH is also a golf nut...only mine is PGA. (Doesn't play professionally, but gives lessons!)

I golf as well...but not nearly as much as he does!

At least we know we're not alone here!

Re: FH is golf crazy...

MRS2BE - I'm also getting married there. The free tee time the day before, is that something that comes with booking them. I didn't think it was free. I'm going to ask for my FI if that is the case.

Re: FH is golf crazy...

Yes, he got two free tee times the day before. (Or so Denise said)

I would have him ask...I think it's a courtesy to all couples that book there...

Just an FYI...it's $95 to tee of there otherwise, but supposedly it's worth it. (never golfed it, but FH did....of course!)

Re: FH is golf crazy...

christy...have you ever thought about taking it up yourself...maybe let your fh teach you...then you could spend some nice time together...I never thought I would like it, but DH got me into it about 2 years ago...

Mrs2B...where does your FH teach...I would love to take a lesson from someone like him...does he offer them to the 'public?'

Re: FH is golf crazy...

I think Denise told us that the course is private, but that guests who stay at the Wyndam hotel can golf there. Definitely no mention of free tee times. I'll have to look into that. How funny that all of us who are getting married there have golf fanatics for FHs!! I am on this board right now because of teh Battle of Bighorn. When he asked me if I was going to watch it with him I thought he was talking about an indian movie. Nope, worse - golf tournament So here I am!!

Re: FH is golf crazy...

My FH wants me to learn how to play golf. I guess I should think about it, who knows I may like it. I am not good at any sports, so maybe this could be the one!

Re: FH is golf crazy...

Learn to play, I tried once when I used to date a fireman who had tons of time to play golf. I started to like it then we broke up, anyway, learn its fun and be happy they are so into golf instead of other & worse things!

Re: FH is golf crazy...

I am laughing hysterically at these posts!

I didn't think anyone was more golf crazy than FH, but now I know I'm not alone!

Yabbobay, FH teaches only part-time (since he has to work full-time) so right now he's only teaching 4 people...more than he can handle. If you want me to recommend some instructors, let me know. I've taken lessons myself and it will definitely improve your game. Taking a lesson from a woman...is even better.

Learning to golf is not easy and is sometimes very frustrating (especially if your FH is good!) but I think it's a game that is definitely worth learning....especially if you're marrying a golf nut!

Re: FH is golf crazy...

I feel all of your pain, but Try living right on the golf course!!! LOL!!

We just moved here 2 months ago and he plays at least 2-3 times a week and when he's not playing, he is at the driving range! Can't complain really, he plays for free during the week after 2pm.

Re: FH is golf crazy...

Lisa, we have the same wedding day and our FH's have the same name! :)

I see you're going to Sandals Jamaica Golf Resort for your honeymoon. We went there last February and had a great time...and of course...golfed!

They lie when they tell you the golf course is 5 minutes away...it's about 30 minutes, but the bus ride is free.

Take the booze cruise over to the falls and make sure you bring some kind of shoes you can wear in the water! Climbing those rocks isn't easy!

Our day is fast approaching!!

Re: You guys are LUCKY..

I too am laughing at all the posts..my husband doesn't play golf (he's busy running the business) but when he did have time for play it was on a 950 Ninja (rice rocket as they call them) he went down on his bike about a year and a half ago and thank god he didn't suffer major injuries. Well he finally sold the bike just two weeks after our best man was hit on his Harley and suffered a broken heel, broken wrist, and a bruised shoulder and was in the hosptial for almost a month. So be lucky that this past time is not TOO dangerous unless that get conked in the head with the ball. Hey they can be in the bars drinking.

Re: Jennbaby......

I am so sorry for your loss, it's a terrible thing to loose someone to something so sensless and something that can be prevented. My hubby is a speed demon and that's what scared me the most..normal speed on a 'jap bike' is minimum 80 mph, I couldn't be happier!...Were in a nice BIG car now.
