FH is in a wedding

FH is in a wedding

My FH is in a wedding for this coming september. His friend and his fiance are having a Jack and Jill bridal shower....FH didnt knwo this when he agreed to be a GM for his wedding....(not that it mattered b/c he would have said yes regardless) but now, the BP is having a meeting to discuss the particulars and FH will not be able to go to the meeting or the shower (the mother of the bride notified the BP on Wed that a meeting would be on sat!!). It was mentioned in some e-mails that they will discuss what the bridal party will owe....but FH never knew (nor did I) that he would be responsible for that....

Do FH have to contribute (Im soo not trying to get out of paying money for their shower....even though I DONT LIKE THEM!....haha....but i think that should have been explained before planning on having GM's and BM's be expected to pay)

Any Opinions?????

I am no help, but will put in my two cents.

I have never been to a Jack and Jill shower, and no offense to anyone who has or will have one, I am not fond of them. Showers are, in my opinion, for girls.

I'd say, your FH should not be responsible for that expense. Again, this is my opinion, and not from experience. MOST guys think of showers as a girl thing.

Sorry I was not much help, but I think, considering he was not told of this beforehand, he should not be as responsible. Wow, that sounds bad. I don't mean it to.

Well, I think for bridesmaids it's TOTALLY expected that they contribute to the shower..although when I threw my sister's shower, they really didn't seem interested in paying, even though they were ALL well established and 10 years older than me, so my mom and I paid for it, and I arranged an expensive gift from the BP to my sister.

I think you don't usually expect to have to pay this stuff as a GM, but I guess with the increase in jack n jill showers it becomes part of the territiry. years ago women weren't expected t contribute to bachelorette parties...but now we have to contribute to both, so I don't see why men shouldn't too. Also when he asked your FH he probably didn't know they were having a jack n jill shower.

I am not a fan of Jack and Jill showers either (don't get me started), but unfortunately, he may have to grin and bear it and contribute something. It may just save some unwanted drama.

I guess you guys are right.....GRRRR, i just HATE this guy so much...he is the ONLY person in our lives that has an attitude towards me (b/c they were friends fo so long...and now that im inthe picture FH has other priorities...even thought you would think he would understand since he too is getting married!!!!!!!) but i guess we might have to 'grin and bear it'

Voguebride- I totally hear you!! My FH has a friend like that too...soooo annoying. Unfortunately, I think he should, IMO, just pay the $$...not because it's right, just to avoid more attitude...

Just be glad you don't have to go and hang out with him

Who gets invited to a Jack and Jill Shower? For a regular shower, all the women who are going to be invited to the wedding are supposed to be invited, right?
So does that mean that everyone invited to the wedding gets invited to a Jack and Jill Shower?
