Maybe if you explain to him that this is important and you don't want to do EVERYTHING on your own and you want his input it will make him pick. I think a lot of the time they feel it is our day and they want us to get everything we want.... talk to him.

I kept asking FH the same thing and getting the same responce. Finally I asked him to put together a playlist on iTunes of songs he likes. I think that worked out better for him because he was able to go through our library instead of having to pull songs out of the air.

maybe reverse psychology - give him a list of music you know he hates... tell him that it's the list of music you love and want played - maybe he'll turn around or at least budge a little and give you some ideas.
I know it seems childish - but it's worked on my FH with practically everything - from flowers to tuxes. Don't be to blatant about it - just casually give him the list and see what happens.

if he doesn't respond - then it's all your choice - and he's got nothing to say if he doesn't like the music... he's being given his chance! (wow that sounds so bride-zilla)

I asked FH numerous times about music, all he said was some slow songs to dance to. Then at the DJ meeting he's got a ton of ideas!!!!!!

My FH hasn't given me any help either. He just shows up when I need him to.

Re: fh is no help
Give him a reasonable deadline. Be specific in that you need ; 1) songs that he would like played. 2) songs for the do not play list. 3) song to dance with his mother.
If he needs help, then perhaps you can sit down with him. As annoying as that sounds, it saves some stress.
I found that giving my FH a deadline worked the best.
