FH is trying my patience...well, his friends are.

Just need to let this out ladies......

FH is all 'Oh Tom's coming, count him as a yes.' To which I replied, no card=no seat. He doesn't get it....I am seriously NOT counting anyone without a reply. GRRR. he and FMIL are both idiots...they keep taking mental notes of people saying 'Yes' or 'No' and act like I'm counting this as a formal answer. Nope, I'm not. Our own parents are currently NOT counted b/c they have not sent theirs in. I am not playing games.

thanks for letting me gripe. i feel better.

I'm sorry this is happening to you now. I felt the same way as you earlier on, i.e. 'no card, then no seat,' under the premise that 'if you're too lazy to mail me a self addressed stamped envelope and check a box, then you don't deserve a seat.'

However, as our rsvp date drew nearer and nearer, we were in danger of not meeting our minimum with so many rsvps outstanding, we started taking people's verbal answer as gold. Fortunately, it turned out we received enough of the responses the week of the rsvp date and we were just a bit shy of our minimum. However, if I didn't hear from the person/couple at all, I counted them as a no. My hall said we could always add people on in the next week or so.

I was like this too, but some people just don't send the cards in.....so we had quite a few people who we got verbal 'yeses' from and they did come. As much as it would be nice to have a 'no card, no seat policy' there are always people who will mess it up.

I was the same way, until we started getting close to the RSVP date and were way under our minimum. At that point I was like I don't care how we get a yes, as long as we get a yes.

I totally agree with you. Why is it so hard for some people to write a response, stick it in a SELF ADDRESSED stamped envelope and mail it! I will be going through that real soon, I know it!

its actually backwards for us. i sent out the invitations on saturday and some of my friends were calling me yesterday saying they got them already and how they can't wait to come to the wedding. i told FH and he was like 'don't call, send the card back if they want to reserve a seat'. so funny that he thinks of it like restaurant reservations!

I agree with you. B/c they are going to forget that they told you yes or soemthing and it is going to screw up everything. Like they say, no tickie no shirty. No responsy, no seatie.

I hear ya... my FH hasn't even confirmed if one of his friends is in our BP! And this guy is from California and is NOTORIOUS for saying yes, and then not showing. There are a few people like that that we're inviting, and even if they REPLY yes, they are going in as a NO. I am NOT paying for anyone who doesn't show. I don't understand how people can do this. I would say you're absolutely right in counting them as a 'no'. You can always ADD the day of... you can't take away. I'll just tell my DOC that we have to add however many plates the day of if I see them at the church.

It's not so much that I refuse totally to accept a verbal, it's that I am not accepting a verbal this far away. It's just annoying....I made it sooo easy. LOL. Glad I'm not the only one bugged by this. And yes, come RSVP deadline time, I will accept them, but right now, I am not accepting a conversational yes over a beer at Mike's birthday party...I'm just not. FH agreed to tell his friends that no card= no seat. (YAY )....really, it's all about getting the names in some ways b/c later when i go to do seating, i can use the cards to double-check/correct spelling.
