FH is turning 30 in 9 days!

I am in serious trouble on this one- fh and my sister threw me a surprise party for my 30th

I asked his sister to help me put a little surprise party- a bbq or something small- and she said she would think about it

so I dont think that will pan out & I just dont have the energy/money to plan the wedding, find us a house & plan a surprise party for fh (not to mention that I work 2 jobs)

anyone have any good gift ideas?

Gifts?? How about a tiki bar?? Or tickets to his favorite sports team?

ohhhh he would looove a tiki bar! do you think giving him a picture of it & buying it when we actually have a house would be ok? neither of us has room to store it

What about just going to dinner with family and friends. Nothing big. This way you don't have to cook or clean up.

I would love to do that- but they would expect me to foot the bill and unfortunately not in a situation to do that

You can have it at a park. Eisenhower park lets you BBQ. And you don't have to relie on his sister then.

Where do you and FH wanna be? We are gonna go to West Islip! I'm nervous cause I know it takes like2-3 months for a house to close...but it depends!!!

we have a broad range of places which is making it difficult- i would looove queens, but I dont think we can afford it- so we are looking in floral park, rockville centre, east meadow, levittown areas

Maybe renting out an area at Eisenhower park? Having Valley Caterers cater it, they are VERY inexpensive for BBQ! Check out their menu!

Or there is a semi private area

OR taking him to a cool show, tickets to his fave sports team?


OR take people out to a lunch and surprise him that way. I know charlie brown's steakhouse has a very cost effective party package...

I was thinking the same thing. And maybe tell people to make there own dishes, if you are inviting a small close of friends and family they usually don't mind helping out cause they're usually closet to the person.
