FH races out at Riverhead every year, its about 15 races for the season, and it ends up costing about $25,000 for the season(I know craziness)-that’s for gas, tires, repairs, and the guys that work on the car for him. He always has sponsors which help with the cost and then his landscaping business usually takes care of the rest. But with buying the house this year and saving for the wedding, he can’t take his landscaping money for racing this year. And his big sponsor from last year told him that they can’t sponsor him this year due to the economy. He is so upset that he might not be able to race this year.
I have no idea what to do for him

Well, I guess ask him if there is any way you can help. Maybe you can try to find him some more sponsors?
I know, it ***** when there is nothing you can do and all you want is for him to cheer up. Maybe just try and do something nice to make him feel better - his favorite food for dinner and his fav movie in the DVD player?

is there any kind of sites that you can post requesting sponsorship? maybe you can email some businesses and ask? you never know..you could luck out

yeah. both of the above ideas sound good.
Perhaps doing something extra for him could be a good idea in addition to dinner and stuff

maybe he can join another group? i know there are some racing clubs up north and out west. sure its far, but if he can just sign up for a few days rather than the season it will be cool. and maybe he'll get some fresh scenery? idk. just an idea.

I remember you once saying the he was in Newsday about his racing. Maybe you can contact Newsday and they can do an article on him in hopes of getting some sponsership.

i've been emailing businesses to see if they are interested, but once i tell FH that i've done it, then he starts harassing me wanting to know if they are going to actually give money, its just sooo frustrating, i hate this

Good luck with the sponsorship...unfortunately there might not be a way for this to happen right now....the best thing you can do is just be there for him and be as encouraging as you can...it def *****

i feel so bad for him... its definitely going to be tough with this economy and people are less to donate and sponsor bc they fear of what might happen to their businesses in the near future.. i hope it works out for him.. ill try to spread the word but its definitely going to be tough

try contacting newsday like Jess suggested..Maybe they can do something to help. It also sounds crazy but maybe contact a big brother big sister, or a charity for children with problems (not crazy problems) that can sponser Daryn and all he has to do is work with the kids a day or two and show them that 'you can do anything if you set your mind to it'

Wow, Teri and Daryn... I'm so sorry Like others have suggested... contact EVERYone you can think of! There's money out there, you just need to ask. Contact Newsday, News12, TV55, radio stations, etc.
