FH just took me back a bit.

So.. i emailed FH about the price to insure my ring and exactly what it covers.

He responded by saying, 'ok baby.. wait, am i paying for this?'
I said yeah and he said, 'wouldn't it make more sense to each pay half for it? Yes i bought it for you but it's your ring'

i dunno.. i mean, it's not the $ issue but it just took me back abit.

thoughts?

eh...i wouldnt ask him to insure my ring for me...I would just do it myself and not question it...Not like its alot of money to do it...

Sorry, I wasn't specific. I meant just in general. Do you have an account together that you pay bills from? I would consider it a joint expense, but it might be easier to just pay it yourself. Did you talk to FH about it?

i'm in the process of looking for a savings acct that actually offers a 'Decent' apr lol.

we each have our own individual accounts right this sec.

ok... i think going half is ok.

If he hadn't though maybe I would have thought to split it. I guess it will only be an expense for the next year and a half until you are married and then the money comes from the same pool anyway.

i still live at home, so my ring is insured through my parents homeowners insurance...so they're paying for it!! LOL

until i get my own insurance of course

FH insured my ring when he bought it... he spent all that money on it, he wants to make sure nothing happens

i didnt ask fh if he insured it and if he didnt i need to take care of it asap.
i dont want him paying for it
god knows what the ring cost and he is paying a HUGE chunk of the wedding

That's what i'm going to do, put it under my mom's homeowners insurance till i have a home (or as i call cardboard box) of my own lol

Fh insured mine but I wouldn't have been offended if I had to do it. He didn't even know it should be done until the jeweler told him about it.
I wouldn't freak though... I don't think its a big deal

I insured my own ring, didn't cost a lot at all, I didn't even ask FH... just went and did it.

I paid for the insurance myself. FH got it appraised and got me all of the paperwork before proposing, but I figured he paid a lot of money for the ring, I could at least pay the first year's insurance by myself.
