B/c this morning when FH opened the door to our chinchilla's 'home' and put their food in like he does everyday he then left for work. Just one problem: He didn't shut the door!!!!
I had loose chinchillas running around the house this morning as I'm trying to leave for work!! I found one underneath our bed and the other one poking around in the bathroom. It took me twenty minutes!!
This is NOT his dumbest moment yet (or to be nice I call them 'sleepy moments')... a few weeks ago it was late at night and dark-- we were about to go to bed, I go in the bedroom and before he comes in he takes the chinchilla's wheel out b/c it squeeks at night-- well, the only problem was that one of them was STILL IN IT!! So we, without knowing it, had a chinchilla running around the house ALL night and it took us about 45 minutes the next morning to find her...
Anyone else's FH have any SLEEPY moments or is it just mine?!!! Please let me NOT be the only one!!!!

Re: FH must have been really sleepy!!!
I the one that usually has 'sleepy moments'.. Saturday night we went to our friends new house to hang out with a bunch of our friends.. all the boys went into the basement to play a game of 'caps'.. needless to say each and every one of them was drunk!! so I drove home (I don't drink) and FH and I are talking and laughing and I was cracking up so much when we got home, that I got out of the car and closed the door and NEVER shut the engine off.. I was halfway up the stairs when FH called me an @$$ and made me go back to turn the car off!!!

Re: FH must have been really sleepy!!!
now i can't stop laughing b/c i keep thinking about how silly it looked--there's the cage, door wide open and one chinchilla looking at me like 'the other one split!!!!' hahaha... when i told FH about it, he was like oooooh yeah--OOPS...
could you imagine one of these running around a BIG house and they could be ANYWHERE?!! while you are late for work also...
So that's what a chincilla is. I was just about to ask!

How cute is your chinchilla??? I love them!
FH has sleepy moments..his usual thing is to go into the fridge, take the milk out and put it on top of the fridge bc it's usually blocking something he wants. He forgets that it's on top of the fridge and leaves it there. It make me nuts bc in the summer the milk goes bad in like 10 minutes up there

That's what they make fur coats out of? Poor anima,l it is so cute. In the picture it reminds me of the squirrel from Ice Age.
How much do they cost? Do they shed much? Can you have one if you have allergies?

This one is good. When i was in college I had a tennis course in the mornings. Well, one day i headed out in a rush and grabbed by hairdryer instead of my tennis racket. I didn't realize i had a dyrer in my hand until i heard the cord hit the stairs as i rushed down them!!!!!!!!!!!

chinchillas range from anywhere around $150-200 all the way up to $400-$500 and even sometimes thousands (really rare ones). bellini was 200 dollars and bambina was on sale for a little less than 150... they don't really shed much, they pretty much keep their fur b/c they are from the andes mountains in chile originally. i mean, if you heavy pet them a little will come off but most of the time it just naturally comes off a bit in their bedding. they are virtually odorless which is why we chose them over a ferrett. i mean, i have severe allergies (addicted to sudafed) and mine don't bother me at all. they are very clean. their fur is so soft that they can't even get water on it-- they need to take 'dust baths' in a medicated dust that we buy from a special exotic pet store. they take one about once or twice a week-- we put them in a container that's big enough with the dust and they roll around-- SO cute.
HTH!!!!!! fm me if you have any more ?s
ETA: the one below is not one of ours but looks like it (the one above also is not one of ours) we don't have any pics of ours on this computer but they both look like the one below in color and size!!

sounds like something that would happen around here, we have 4 ferrets and I know what it is like when little creatures get loose and hide.
