Do any of you girls find that after your FH talks to either coworkers or friends that are men about the wedding, it's like three giant steps backwards have been taken?
For instance, all of FH's coworkers have been married within the last 2 or 3 years...and when they talk about the wedding, they tell him that I'm crazy for wanting to do everything now, and that we've got 'plenty of time'. Of course this is all he needs to hear, and he says that they're already married so they know better than me.
And he spoke to his friend who he just asked to be a GM last night, and his reaction was 'wow, you mean you guys already set a date?'
I don't get it...is this some neanderthal genetic hard wired thing that I'm just not aware of? Please tell me other FHs are the same...

Luckily, we are the first in our group of friends to get married so FH's friends don't have much input here. I am sure you are not alone, though!

Same here.. thank god!!! However all the girls I know that are married yell at me that I am not doing enough

I'm kind of going through the same thing...fh is always being told he's too young (23), why is he rushing, he has time...we've been together over 7 years....he wasn't forced in to this....it was his decision. If he feels ready, why are they worried about his age...he's not 15 and this is not an arranged marriage. Thank God he doesn't pay it any mind....

PERFECT explanation. Mine is the same. So I'm keeping him in a box in the closet until I let him out to get a tux. Then it's back in the box until the wedding. Don't let him get tainted!
And by the way, those guys have NO idea how their weddings were planned. Their wives planned them! How would THEY know??

So true! Whenever FH states his opinion about something wedding related, I tell him that he's really cute but seriously, after he bought me the ring, his job was done. Now all he has to do is what I tell him to do and pay for half of it! It saves a lot of arguments. I also try to remind him that no one is really going to be paying attention to HIM that day anyway

oh sometimes I think my FH has too much input! I'm like 'you don't get to CHOOSE the theme'!! At first he was like, 'Whatever you want, honey, let me know how to help but you can make all the decisions' and now he's like, ' are you sure we don't need a theme?' it's my fault. . I made him watch too many bridal shows!!!!!

Honestly...FH is really good about when guys say negative things about getting married. he is always like 'I asked her so I am just as excited'
But I can totally understand how other men can be....I don't understand why they make the jokes like your life is over and yadda yadda yadda.

Im pretty much a last minute girl so if I had til Dec I wouldnt be doing much.....I think it all just depends on if you are a planner or last minute like me...neither is wrong

It's good that you r proactive..I'm sure if you spoke with their wives, they wouldn't even agree with that their hubbys are telling your FH lol
Before I ordered my BM dresses I had gotten 'You STILL didn't get BM dresses?!?!?' at work when I had 8 months....lol everyone's different

Luckily FH and i are on the same exact page when it comes to how far in advance things have to get done. And I think 2 or 3 years ago, people weren't planning weddings this far in advance so there wasn't such a sense of urgency.
My cousin just got engaged last week and she's planning July 2010 and she's been hearing from everyone (including me) that she needs to step lively and get those important vendors booked soon!
