FH PUT ME ON A FURNISHING BUDGET!! :o(

Can you believe it? We just bought a house and now in the middle of working on it. We're only looking to furnish the important rooms at this point to be ready for October when we move in.

The rooms are master bedroom, family room and kitchen.

I found a bedroom set that I love, but FH says it's too much $$$$$$

Can you ladies give me an idea of how much a good bedroom set goes for?? Including bed, night stands, armoire and a dresser w/ mirror?

I really want something that's stylish, will last long and is economical? hope that makes sense! Thanks ladies!

Buy from North Carolina! We went to Fortunoffs found a complete bedroom set we loved ($4K). We asked who the manufacturer was. THen we called Blacks Furniture in NC and ordered it from them. Total price (2K)! :)))

Yes, anywhere. Honestly, it was a great experience. I was nervous. As long as you loook at it in a store and touch it. It is the same thing from NC! The stores know people do this so sometimes they are reluctant to give the manufacturer or the collection names. Just try to get manufacturer. Say well I need to know if it is Stanley or Bernhardt. You know pretend you need to know the manufacturer so you know if you are getting a good deal for the price. THen go to that manufactures website and do a search till you see the furniture. We lucked out because the our set was on Vaughn (the manufactures) homepage. But it shouldn't be too hard to find the collection name. Fortunoff lied to us. Said the name was Ashley. It was called the Silhouette collection... :)

We are planning on buying our dining room furniture from Blacks. WE saw a set we liked in Seigermans ($8K). I found it on Blacks for $4K. It is complete set, table, chairs, china closet. You can plan on saving 1/2, plus there is no tax! And shipping is less than NY! Its a deal all around!

One piece of advice. CHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE THEY LEAVE. Once they leave and you have signed the bill of laden, they are not responsible. We missed alittle scratch and there is nothing we can do now. Not a big deal, but.... You have to look. If it happened with a local store they can help you out better probably so make sure you EXAMINE everything. They are sending us touch up paint, its the manufacturer who won't help us out, not Blacks. But we are very, very happy with them!

Always buy furniture (especially bedrooms) from NC!

No tax & shipping in alot of them stores too! Also the furniture is HALF price of what it is here, thats a big difference!

Hello! - we just found a bedroom set last weekend -that we loved in Thomasville on sale for about $5000 - I thought that was a pretty good price esp. like you I want something nice but will last and kind of stay in style - classic.

Anyway, I will call NC and see what they can do but I told you about the whole deal with Thomasville and NC - so we shall see.

But we may out it off until the end of the year because we just purchased a whole family room (that same weekend - and spent a little more than we planned) - so we shall see! So I guess we will continue living out of my guest bedroom with my cheaper furniture...

I've actually been in touch with someone in NC. However been playing phone tag and since this whole blackout thing, I still have no idea how much it will cost me ordering from NC. It's a Thomasville bedroom set as well and I did see it on sale at Thomasville, but Johnny Boy says it's still too much

We'll see what my 'friend' in NC can do for me!
