Ok I am not sure if I am uspet about this or not. FH sister just dropped out of the wedding party. She is going to be 30 this year and lives at home with her parents and her 12 yr old son. she is trying to move out by april and cant afford to be in the wedding party. She also spends her money frivolously. I feel bad for her but FH doesnt want to offer to pay for her dress and such and I'm not so sure that it would be fair when I have 10 other girls who arent well off either and im not paying for them. Are we wrong for not offering to pay?

Re: FH SISTER
Thats a rough situation- because of course you can't pay for everyones dress, but at the same time I'm sure you would want her to be a part of the day. Maybe you could compromise with her- I don't know what you did for your BM dresses, but I let them all pick out their own dress in a color so they could pick one that they liked and was in their price range. There is probably other ways she could find to save money as well if she still wants to be a part of your day! (borrowing shoes from a friend ect) But again i don't know the details of your colors, ect...so depending on that it could be hard to do that.
ETA: i misread the posting a bit----it is really her decision if she is choosing to spend her money 'frivolously' then her priorities are off. If she wants to be a part of it, she could adjust her spending....

Re: FH SISTER
i would say you're not wrong. if she spends frivilously as you mentioned then obviously she finds money to spend somehow. i wouldn't lose any sleep over it. plus like you said, your other bm's aren't well off either, it wouldn't be fair. maybe you could have her be a reader or something to at least keep her involved.

Not at all...I wouldnt. If she rather spend her money on other stupid stuff instead of being part of her own brothers most important day than she really doesnt seem to care so why should you.

Re: FH SISTER
I dotn think you are wrong at all. When you accept to be in a wedding party you should anticipate spending $ on things like a dress, etc.
Its her responsibility to make sure she has $ for those things and doesnt spend money on friviilous things
Maybe her mother will pay for her dress..but you two shouldnt have to

Re: FH SISTER
I wouldn't pay either... Better you found out now anyway and had her back out.... Might have been more drama later on which you don't need ($$ / responsibility related).

Re: FH SISTER
You are not wrong, esp if she spends her money like that and if FH thinks it is a bad idea as well
