We are starting to purchase gifts for our parents and I am not sure what to get his step mother. I am closer to her then with his real mother, and so is he. She planned my entire bridal shower, is paying for the rehearsal dinner, photography, etc. And, she is doing this out of the kindness of her heart, and I know money is tight. We are going to get his real mother and my mother one of those handkerchiefs, do you think if we get one made for her FH real mother would be mad that his step mom and her received kind of the same gift? I just don't want to step on anyone toes, but I want his step mother to know how grateful we are to have her in our lives! Or, do you have any other ideas on what we can get her?

I don't know what I'm doing as parent gifts so I don't have many ideas to give you besides frames. I think getting her a handkerchief too would be fine though.

FH has stepmom but not nearly as close as yours sounds. Still, she has been a support, emotionally and fiscally, so we are treating her basically the same. I got all moms getting ready shirts, hangers, and an alex and ani bracelet (there is an absolutely beautiful stepmom one). The only thing we didn't get her is a picture frame that we are giving the other parents. it is going to have a mushy statement on one side and a baby picture on the other. It just didn't seem necessary or appropriate for his stepmom, who came into his life when he was nearly out the door.

Im basically just DIYing. I bought the frame (it is a 2 5x7 side by side frame) from Target, just plain black. I found the sayings online that I liked and I typed and printed them on some resume paper.

They have some really nice frames on Etsy and what's nice about them is you can have it engraved which can make it a little more personal. I am going a different route with my FMIL. She actually bought my dress for me so I wanted to do something very personal.
