i dont know why i even bothered asking him. i know my LIW ladies give it to me straight.
ok here's the situation. i have really bad allergies which are turning into an upper respitory infection. i being forced to attend a bridal shower for my cousin's FW on saturday. i dont wanna go, nobody likes her. should i call at the last minute and say im sick and be 'that girl' or should i call her MOH to cancel ahead of time with another excuse (what excuse?) or should i **** it up and go? i have a wedding that evening which i will NOT miss for anything which means i still have to do hair nails, etc. im stressed.

I'd call the MOH up ahead of time and tell them you can't go. But what would be a valid excuse... hmmm...

Call the MOH tomorrow. You're not super duper last minute, and you'll probably sound really crummy so they'll believe that you're sick. It'll be close enough that you can be like 'I just don't want to get anyone else sick.......'

Can't you use your friend's pre-wedding stuff as an excuse, maybe coupled with not feeling well or something work related?

I wouldn't call last minute saying you're sick because you are going to the wedding the same day and it's bound to get back to her!
God forbid there are pictures posted of you on facebook doing the electric slide with a martini in your hand!
eta: Is the shower far from you? Maybe just drop in with a little gift, wish her well, say you wish you could stay longer then bounce to get ready for the wedding???

oh and the other problem is that since my mom is practically forcing me to go to this thing by gunpoint, the excuse has to be good enough for her too

ITA. well said. best way to handle it just to drop by and excuse urself due to going to a wedding u can only stay half an hr tops u come out smelling like roses and u dont need to suffer thru ur time there
