He's really concerned about how we're going to pay for this wedding. I think we'll be alright w/o his second job but he's very nervous about it and wants to be safe than sorry. I feel bad that he might do this. We're cutting corners where we can but it still might be tight. Is anyone else in this position?

I hear you...between the mortgage, and just every day bills, it's definitely going to be tight. It will definitely be a light Christmas this year!!!!! LOL

have you two sat down and really broke down all the expenses and came up with a budget and how to save?
I've said it many times but what i did was calculate how many months we had until our wedding. Took that amount of months we had left, the amount i get paid a month and multiplied that. Then i took out monthly expenses, any monthly bills, how much ill spending commuting to work and little things too. Whatever i was left is how much i can put towards the wedding and not worry bc everything else is taken care. I did this for FH too and calcultated for both of us how much we'll be able to put towards the wedding. This can also show how much you are able to put towards each vendor. You will have your RH amount and that whatever is left allocate it to different vendors, wedding dress, accessories and so on.
Sometimes i think people just pick a number, a number that just sounds decent to spend on a wedding but without really doing any calculations on what that couple can actually afford.
IF you do this and show your Fh that you two will be ok then maybe it will change his mind

yup! im getting a second job...i have an interview for bloomingdales on tuesday..i heard they pay decent and u can get commission..not a bad deal...but i def NEEDED too cause i dont know how else we'd be able to pay for this!
FH is in the process of looking into some things also..i mean like u said we might be able to do it without a second job..but we'd be cutting really close and we wouldnt be able to do a single thing between now and the wedding and would prob have to borrow some money right before the wedding

Im right there with ya! I quit my job almost a year ago to go back to school and now im thinking about getting a little side job to save some extra money for the wedding. I have anxiety everyday about how we are going to pay for this wedding. I think this is the most stressful thing ive been through!

It's really scary. Last night I kept having dreams about paying for this thing. We really need to tighten our belts, neither one of us is great at saving.

You have a good point. When we got engaged I think we were so excited about booking things and planning that we really didn't think it through. So now we have to be grown ups and do what we have to do. Also I think if FH commits to saving all that he can I don't think a second job will be necessary.
