My fiancee wants to wear a bowtie instead of the typical tuxedo tie and I dont want him to so I said I'd have a poll on what the grooms are wearing. I think that most would be wearing ties and he thinks bowties. He says the bowtie is back in style.

Re: fh tuxedo poll
My FH doesn't like ties at all so he'll be wearing a tab collar. Our GM will be in regular ties, we really don't like bow ties!

Re: fh tuxedo poll
Bowties are more traditional and formal. My FH doesn't get dressed up very often, so it'll be nice to see him dressed to the nines.

Re: fh tuxedo poll
My FH is wearing a white striped tie and a white brocade vest.... we thought it looked nice and wedding-y.
But yes your fh is right... bow ties are back in (as was seen at the oscars ) and they do look very formal.

FH & best men are wearing bow ties. GM are wearing straight ties.

Re: fh tuxedo poll
Bowties are definitely coming back in style, and can look very elegant if worn correctly. Here are some tips I've picked up in my research:
-Never wear a 'pre-made' bowtie (i.e. the infamous 'clip on'). If you're going to wear a bow tie, learn to tie one and wear a real one. The real ones look a lot less dorky than the fake ones.
-Only wear a stand-up collar with a white tie. Stand-up collars (where you can see the band around the neck) are not intended to be worn unless you're wearing a white tie. For some reason, it's become customary to wear stand-up collars with any color bow tie. This isn't correct as you can see the strap around the neck which shouldn't be obvious.
-Bowties just don't look good on some people. If your groom has a long, narrow face, a bow tie might end up looking ridiculous.
Hope this helps!!
