We've been fighting over the guest list because he has a ton of acquaintances that he wants to invite ... i am of the mentality that the only people that should be invited to the wedding are those you would pick up the phone and call/text any day of the week. He wants to invite this woman he works with (he doesn't even know her last name) because he sees her everyday. Seriously?

OMG meeee too - FH wants to invite someone that he worked with 4 years ago - has only seen 2 in that many - this guy had the nerve to ask him if he was invited - now he feels bad and wants to invite him - I keep telling him that I have friends that I speak with everyday that I can't invite....I told him B list buddy - B list! This is what you need to do!

Re: FH Vent
i hear ya! It's definitely tough.
it is pretty nuts that he wants to invite her and doesn't know her last name. I understand your frustration

Re: FH Vent
Vent away! I hope it helps. I had FMIL inviting everyone in the family, and just about all the female family members for the shower, that she is not paying for.

Re: FH Vent
i feel your pain fh and i argue over this constantly
he wants to invite people Ive never met in the 7 years weve been together
and random distant 'friends' from his past that we havent seen in years
i agree with you that a wedding should only have close family and friends

NOOOO. thats what i wish i would have said to FH when he kept adding all these effin people, needless to say we went to finalize with our venue and all these 'extra, i ran into at the mall/gym/grocery store' people cost us 3k. and NOW he regrets it. too late, they RSVP'd.

Re: FH Vent
FMIL is famous for this. She wanted to invite everyone SHE works with, despite the fact that FH and I did not invite a lot of coworkers.

Re: FH Vent
I had that issue, but we picked a number (160), and split it in half. We each had to make cuts to get our 80. And we still added a few. We have a b list of about 15

Re: FH Vent
I think my issue is that FH has only a couple of really good friends - one of the guys in his wedding party he considers one of his BEST friends....he's getting married a month before us and hasn't asked FH to be in his wedding party....Other guys in his wedding party I don't even know their last name nor have I met them b/c he grasped at straws - people he was childhood friends with...I think he wants to feel like he has people there - I also think he's delusional that we won't make our minimum - smoke much?

Re: FH Vent
That sounds like my FH and FILS! They want to invite everyone and their mothers!!!!! My solution? We're inviting 220 people, 110 from his side and 110 from mine - NO MORE THAN THAT!!!! I'm not questioning anyone on his list as long as he doesn't go over his amount.
