He went for a fitting on Friday with his BM and groomsman.
FH was planning on wearing the butterfly collar shirt to stand out but the guy said that it would look weird on the guys with their color ties. So essentially it'd be groom w butterfly and groomsman with regular.........
His question is:
1. Is it weird for the groom to wear a different collar than the groomsman?
What did your FH wear or what does he plan to wear?

No it's totally NOT weird. Ours was the opposite. DH had a regular collar and the guys had the butterfly one and it looked really pretty.

my DH and all the GM wore the same collar. just the vest/tie color changed

We're doing the same.
I don't know if there are any rules here....as long as FH doesn't look like he and his GMs aren't going to the same event.
